We recently found an old key with the following inscription :
KXWSS
opened June 13th 1905
Miss A Pope
This may be a long shot but does anyone have any idea what KXWSS could possibly be?
Tried Google but not had any luck. I was wondering if KX could be King's Cross?
Any ideas? Thanks.
Sounds fascinating. I'm presuming you found it in Sheffield? I did a Google, but all I could come up with was that King Edward VII school opened in 1905, when Wesley College and Sheffield Royal Grammar School merged. That accounts for some of the letters, though not necessarily in the right order.
I'd love to know what it turns out to be.
