View Full Version : Yorkshire Terrier bus fares going up
I notice that the 'no fares increase' signs have vanished from the windscreens of the Terrier buses, also a notice inside advising of fares increases from Monday 6th February due to rising operating costs.
Single fares are going up by between 5p and 20p - looks like they are going up to the same as what First are charging.
Dayrider - going up to £2.70
Weekly bus card - going up to £9.50
However there is some good news for those who use dayriders and weekly bus cards - they will at the same time become valid on Supertram services (and likewise Supertram dayrider and megarider tickets will be accepted on Yorkshire Terrier buses), due to Stagecoach now owning both operators.
Nicola27 07-02-2006, 12:21 I can't believe this. The supposed cheaper option now costs me 40p more for a single journey than on a First bus. It's gone up 20p in one go.
Also not impressed with the new First timetables. They've taken one service off and spread the other two out so they always get full. I know I'm lucky to have a choice of service, but I just wish they would stop messing about with them!
Sorry about another duplicaton, having trouble with my sensitve laptop.
Bloody Yorkshire Terrier buses im going back to using First!!
But seriously i did say on another thread where First leads then Terrier follow.
does that mean that the megarider on the tram is going up as well?
SpeedwayDan 07-02-2006, 13:07 its still going to be cheaper for me then.
a single journey to work will cost me £1.50 on a mainline bus, but the terrier was £1.05 so even if it goes up 20p for my journey, it will still be 25p cheaper
does that mean that the megarider on the tram is going up as well?
Yup - gone up to £9.50. However for your extra 50p you do get use of Yorkshire Terrier buses as well as the trams.
slimsid2000 07-02-2006, 14:11 Does anyone know when Terrier buses will be rebraded as Stagecoach?
Its a rolling rebranding program, and I believe its already started in Barnsley (according to another poster) - it will probably take them at least a year, if not more - look at firsts rebranding (newer vehicles only), stagecoach might follow suit
shefflad 07-02-2006, 20:59 why hasn't been on the front page of the STAR .Terrier buses have put their prices up inline with first Why no protest /no Jan Wilson slaging Terrier buses off
as per Terrier (stagecoach) follows First and nothing is said
kdrummond 07-02-2006, 21:09 Don't know if anyone has mentioned fares (tram and buses) are all going up (all companies) as from 1st April all oap and disabled passengers ride for free nationally.
flyingtonite 10-02-2006, 22:03 well i dont know how people have got the guts to have a go at first if first wasent in sheffield we would have buses by terrier every 20mins old tack buses with high fares and buses that only run in the day and not at weekends
flyingtonite 10-02-2006, 22:04 Yup - gone up to £9.50. However for your extra 50p you do get use of Yorkshire Terrier buses as well as the trams.
cant see the point really terrier buses only seem to run in the day monday to saturday no wonder they dont make no profit
flyingtonite 10-02-2006, 22:06 looks like you can only use them on certain services
