The road is closed off at the junction of Badger Road and Station Road.

One of the 52 buses coming out of the Badger has 'slipped' and gone into the side of a house. No-one is injured thankfully but the road may be closed for some time yet.

Hi the 52 bus has been taken out of the poor person’s garden on stain rd woodhouse.
To my surprise was walking up to get my daughter from nursery and there it was a nice big mainline 52 in a neighbours garden straight through the front garden knocking down the gate etc and missing the kitchen window by inches managed to get a picture from a distance
took 3 fire engines to get it out and a tow truck loads of police about if you cant see from picture it is front wheels are wedged and off the ground and the back wheels are just at top of banking .
read it here 1st i bet its hits star soon .

 Just saw this on the news

I'm so glad nobody was hurt :(

wasn't that the stretch of road where that ford focus lost control a couple of months back?

Is anything going to be done about the junction outside the junction pub before the building of the retirement village is complete? And as for the buses that block the station entrance every morning, turning the whole area into a death trap...

There definetly needs to be a lay-by for the parked cars of the Badger houses on that short stretch before the pub. Bus drivers pull out of Badger Road into your path and just force you to wait or back up.

That would be a good idea, if there was anywhere to put a layby just there. There's a considerable height difference between those houses and the road, so there's a steep embankment

It's a bad stretch of road, the buses block the road off on the way down to Woodhouse Mill, so you end up in the middle of the road to pass them. Going up hill, turning right onto Badger you get cars coming at you over the crest of the hill.

Are there still plans to improve the bus terminus area?

A retaining wall with railings by the side of the path and then just fill in the slope to road level should do the trick. I think theres at least one other place on the Badger like this.

Near the Beaver Hill end of Badger Road?

The reporter on Look North said the bus lost front wheel traction coming round the bend because of mud left on the road by the contractors on a nearby building site.

I know from sad experience that wet mud can be as slippery as ice on the road and that those responsible are supposed to put out warning signs and get it cleared as soon as possible.

To there defence i walk up that part 4 times a day there are signs saying mud on rd and a road sweeper running up and down all day.
I think its was just simply a acident .:o
Why should there always be someone to blame ?

Problem with the sweepers is they just move the mud from one place to another but don't actually get rid of much.

Last week I only saw the "Men at work signs", now there seems to be more signs up, "Mud on road" "Lorries turning".

Has it been decided who is at fault yet?

By now most of you will have read the Star article where it blames mud on the road for the accident. To be fair, there are signs all over the place about mud etc and the road cleaner thingy is up and down all day - i've never seen a road cleaned as much! I can't see how the builders/contractors could do anything more than they are doing already.

On a side note (which some of you may find of interest) there is a planning application in at the moment for a new housing development to be built on the open land running alongside the railway line just where the first mainline 52 buses terminate.

In amongst all the plans etc is a report about the highway - very interesting if you read it - it plays down any risks on that stretch of road. They are proposing putting in a mini-roundabout - but nothing to help pedestrians. Once the retirement village opens up it's surely only going to be a matter of time before one of them gets killed unless something is done.

Another interesting snippet - they also did a noise survey thing (just reminded me as I can hear the coal train engine idling on the line outside) and that was as big a piece of creative writing i've seen in a long time!
