I know some cyclists wear them to minimise car exhaust fumes ,but they are also worn ,notably by Japanese tourists, seemingly as a matter of course, wherever they are.
Is this also an anti pollution measure, anti germs, and if anti germs is it to stop contracting disease,or because they have a cold or whatever, and do not wish to spread their germs?
They look very strange to me ,but if the new film,Contagion, causes a panic perhaps they will become more common.
