Hello all:wave:
Whilst watching The Culture Show (BBC2 Thurs @ 7.00pm), the presenter Verity Sharp introduced 'The Great British Design Quest' in conjunction with The Design Museum.
The shortlist consists of 25 design icons (debatable by anyone's standards), from the 1920's to present.
Feel free to peruse the shortlist and start arguing about which is (or isn't) your favourite....

Hey Strix... sorry:confused: I should've posted this link too!!

My apologies.
:)
Tough decision. How to compare the WWW with the Verdana type face? ::confused:: I decided to forget the complexities and go with superficiality; I voted for the E-type Jag :) .
Mmmmm, ...... tough call!!
The E-type jag, ......................
.......... or a globe with WWW plastered across it / a motorway sign consisting of two pointy white lines and 1m / some letters etc. etc.
Mind you, Concord comes a close 2nd!!!
I should note that I'm still undecided.
Can't choose, erm, errm....
Raleigh Chopper - used to have one when I was a nipper.
Mini - two of my friends have got one.
Concorde - never been on it, but I happened to be under Concorde's last ever flight path - something I'll never forget.
The Face - yep, I used to read it, particularly for the underground music reviews.
GTA - amazin game - enough said.
Doc Martin Boot's - Again, a childhood thing.
Red Phone Box - Always smelled of *****, I remember the phone books being inside them too.
Routemaster - London personified, IMO.
I'll make my decision shortly.
Anyone else interested?

Does the world wide web count as being designed?
Does the world wide web count as being designed?
Which was exactly my problem.
I really struggle with the idea that Britain designed the world wide web, wasn't it a military idea that's just evolved? who ever came up with the idea, it's certainly not designed.
I vote for Concord, so British, style, arrogance and such beauty, the fact it will probably never fly again is a complete disgrace.

I associate 'design' with the WWW only as far as the look of the browsers, the web pages etc. Didn't the WWW evolve from basic electronic communication and html, and as such is more a series of technological advances. Some might suggest that in this context 'design' might be considered a triumph of style over content...
I've decided.
Raliegh Chopper!! Freedom between ya legs!
