I have heard this new law has had it's first reading. It intends to reclassify gardens as greenfield land to stop grabbing developers buying houses, knocking them down and building flats on the site. Apparently, at the moment, if you knock a house down, the whole site is classed as brownfield. There is a grabbing developer who wants to knock down two detached houses near me at Wickersley and develop the resulting site with a zillion flats. How long will it take to get this bill through does anyone know or how can we slow the planning down (Rotherham Council always side with the developers!).

Hi,

Laws passing through parliament can take a notoriously long time, depending on complexity, polictical resistance etc. So it could take as little as 6 months to a number of years.

Best option to delay planning is to stir up as much local resistance as possible, perhaps get other locals to rally around, local papers, attend planning meetings etc.

Hope this helps
