Yes it flippin well is

Chris, still waiting for u to finish my kitchen which u started before Christmas.
I'm a little concerned that u are advertising for more work when you have left a job half finished.
I'd be grateful if u could get back in contact

pardon?what do you mean the qualified joiner? me and matt have discussed the kitchen and our differences and is being rectified monday. this by no means suggests i am unqualified or do not do a good job. there were specific details about this job which took longer than expected. if anyone wishes to discuss is one to one please to not hesitate to contact me or pm me. i can provide you with many glowing references about my work

thanks chris

we can only go on what we hear:

really disappointed. Needed my kitchen fitting before christmas, so put a post out on the forum, found this guy who sounded like he could do the job. Anyway after not turning up until after 10am kitchen was started, and although some parts were missing i would have expected an experienced joiner to have been able to deal with it!!
Anyway they left at 10pm the same night and when asked when they were coming back reply was 'first week in January'
Its now the 31st and no sight of him so far.
i have had second and third opinions off avariety of builders kitchen fitters and joiners and they cannot believe the state of the work done.
Including two pieces of solid beech worktop that have been put in upside down, a sink that leaks and no doors on the fridge or freezer because apparently the parts were missing (they weren't).
None of the doors are straight and a fair portion of the units don't line up either.
I'm sure other members have positive experiences but its worth bearing in mind who you invite into your home.

thankyou for bringing that to my attention i had not seen it. i am by no means a dodgy cowboy and i do not need to be tracked down as i am here to be contacted and always have been , lorna has always had my contact details. i am still with my girlfriend who is a law student at the uni. i simply used her email adress for correspondance as i did not my own and we share this profile.

there was a lot more to the kitchen situation than lorna said and i simply do not have the time to go through it all on here. i returned home to machester due to family death and wasnt working for a month. i organised to go back monday to fix any out of line cupboards however will need to check this now as i have just read that and lorna says she doesnt want me back. the leaking sink is not my area, i am a joiner and the fridge doors were too small to be put on. i am gutted that lorna felt so moved to start such a hurtful post as we wer discussing the problems between ourselves at the time. i am by no means a cowboy and as classic rock says i have many excellent reports. (Just to throw a spanner in the works, this guy came to my house just before Christmas to fit some skirting boards for me and did an excellent and very professional job for a fair price. He turned up (which was to be commended, based on a couple of bad experiences with a certain tradesman on here who promised to come to do two independent jobs and didn't show for either) at the agreed time, did the work swiftly and professionally, cleaned up after himself and I paid him.)

but as they say it only takes one bad report and i guess now due to lornas report i will be finding it extremely hard to get ay further work off here. but please trust me i am contactable, i have not run off with noones money and my girlfriend does not need to be brought into this. please do not judge me off one unecessary bad report, i did the best with the shoddy materials which were there and due to this slanging match and the fact i have been in manchester at home it has taken a while for me to return to fix the wonky door.

please please i am 20 living with girlfriend trying to make a go of it.i am fully qualified and will always try my hardest to do what i can . as you can see as i was at lornas house for 12 hours due to the awful materials before we gave up and went home.

no offence patz but you do not know anywhere nearly all the details. you are correct unfortunaltely it is unlikely i will get any further work due to one bad report but i assure you that i am merely puttig my valid side of the argument across and do not need to be judged

HIYA CHRIS,
I'VE READ ALL THE POSTS CONCERNING THIS BUSINESS AND TO BE HONEST THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS GO SORT OUT THE MESS AND MAKE SURE WE HAVE ONE HAPPY LADY POSTING ON THE FORUM....
AS A WISE MAN ONCE SAID TO ME... IT'S NOT THE MESS YOU MAKE ITS THE WAY YOU CLEAR IT UP THAT COUNTS IN THE END.

GO AND MAKE A GOOD JOB OF IT, BY DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES AND I'M SURE SHE WILL BE HAPPY TO POST A POSITIVE POSTING WHEN ITS ALL SORTED.

GOOD LUCK

Did you know that if something is good, on an average you will tell 1 person.
If its bad... you'll tell 8!

at last some decent constructive criticism.and not slagging off when they dont no all the details. not bein nasty just annoyed n upset. i have always intended to return and rectify any of my work she was not satisfied with that id done. and can assure you i do not recall any gaps in joints when i left but i said i would return and fix anything she wasnt happy with. just took a lot longer than expected due to bad times back at home. but i know thats no excuse. i have arranged a time to go fix it before iv read that post sayin she didnt wan =t me to return so will have to call her to confirm. it was the other things we were in dispute over. which people do not no the details of. she says sink leakin nothing to do with me. also says i put solid wooden worktops on upside down but they had bad mark on one side from the worshop when manufactured so after discussing with her boyfriend decided to put it on other way up with only a slight colour shade diference rather than have bad mark.. maybe that was bad judgement on my part but when i left it looked fine.

anyway if she still wants me to i am returning to rectify any bad work i did however will not do any extra work for no pay as i already did 12 hours for her as it was made horrendously.

hopefully she will be more than satisfied when i rectify my work i did and will say so on here xx

This joiner did some work for me before Christmas and did an excellent job. He offered a fair price, turned up at the agreed time, did the work professionally and swiftly and cleaned up after himself. I'd certainly use him again.

This sounds like a witch hunt by people who do not know enough about this and are just jumping on the band wagon. Lets be fair about this and take a balanced view.

Incidentally, Chris, I have contacted you about a further job I need doing. Are you going to get back in touch about it?

As someone who's been in business for a while, my simple advice to you is just to keep in touch with your clients, of you go missing for a while - 2 hours, 2 days or two months.

There are a lot of dodgy trades folk out there and it's easy for a client to jump to the conclusion that they've been ripped off. People are generally understanding, if you have family problems I'm sure they'll give you some time to sort it out.

The one thing that will get you more and more work is just turning up when you said you would and completing work sometime around when it's s'posed to be.

Good advice - now I must start trying to stick to it!!
