View Full Version : Is Bed going down hill?

This place used to be packed *in the good old days*
I used to have a great time there *in the good old days*

...but look at it now: it's falling down like a Hollywood D-lister's face. They really need to work on promotion. And they haven't had a big name DJ for years.

Come on Bed: pull your act together.

Step 1: Actually open. You can't live in your own sticky-carpeted club like agoraphobic moles forever.
Step 2: Stop falling down. You've gone 'tatty round the edges'. You can't attract VIPers. There's a truck load of pigeon dust needs chasing, sitting in a shed in Heeley.
Step 3: Book a big name DJ: Camelot Montage Escobar Soundsystem Brothers should pull in the crowds.

Remember: its never too late to turn it around.

Do you realise its been sold off and is no longer even a club - not sure who owns it now but it aint the gatecrasher/bed crew - try plug its way better anyway!

Um, all that's left of bed is a small section of its facade - the rest of the building, let alone the club doesn't exist any more. It's been like that for months!

Thank you very much for that information. With your information I will now rearrange my plans. My plans were to go there every weekend for the next 3 years. Now I will have to burn all my diaries because they are full of incorrect information.

Thank you for your information.

p.s. I've looked into your "Plug". This Stefan Janusz fellow who is playing on the 25th of February intrigues me a great deal. I've heard he is the DJ with 3 nipples. Can you give me more information?

Thanks-a-bunch in anticipation of your informationon.

Au contraire Stef. Largin' it to sexy vocal mullet-house in the gutted cadaver of a crumbling suprclub's edifice is what all the celebs want to be seen doing these days.

I had the pleasure of getting off my tits on poppers with Pete Moss, Kate Doherty, and Chantel & Preston off "I'm a Celebrity, Pimp My Ride" at a glamorous party in the catacombs just the other day

I heard there was a fantastic Minimalist night there a couple of weeks ago, but apparently it was very quiet. Such a shame considering the recent 'shabby chic' style facelift..

That Rough Disko lot are gonna orchestrate a punk-electro orgy in the rubble of Sheaf House. It'll be more underground though so the only celeb will be Boz.

Then...guess what everybody...the council are gonna rebuild Sheaf House in the same place, down to the very last patch of flakey paintwork. Except it will be 3% bigger. What a waste of our council tax*

*That last bit was a lie.

Guess Bed was the UK's last stab at a 'super club'. they should have known better than trying a super glam handbag night after the 90s....Even with the high door prices and silly prices for drinks it was always going to be a struggle making money when you've got Roger Sanchez/Todd Terry and the rest charging thousands per set....

Oh and Bully Beef- 'sexy vocal mullet-house', I'm liking that defintion!.....big in Leeds yeah?!

i went last week and had a great night. there was me, and two taxi drivers who parked up opposite and a student who kept trying to give me money as i danced the night away to the echoes of a funky house set played there in 2001 by erick morillo. at the end we were crying. not for more, just crying.

I too was at that night last week. You didn't see me, I was hiding in a designer drainpipe.
I was raving like a wild beast to the echoes of Tony Humphries from the opening night, playing Black Legend constantly.
I also ended the night in floods of horrible tears. Very touching.

Bed used to be class!

I'd highly recommend Plug for a top night out, i've been at least once a month since it opened and always had a spot on nite!

Prices are good and a really nice crowd.

The reports I have heard of this chap run rather contrary to this unfounded hearsay: I've heard he is a handsome genius, a modern-day renaissance man of the highest caliber, and that he is a master of the bowstaff. And he has many great skills: yorkshire pudding making skills, knot untying skills, and metagalactic llamatron-playing skills, to name but a few.

**as an aside, I have no idea where some of those posts went. They were genius. The first 2 replies were retarded, though. They should have gone, if only to save the authors from embarassment.

he had a very odd shaped head

Maybe so, but his set was almost as good as his legendary Space terrace sets of the late 90's/early 2000's

Timmy Mallet was a wack-ass fool. Back in those days it was all about Roland Rat. I saw him DJ at Turnmills in 94. Straight happy hardcore set. God I miss those days.

roland rat was an evil bleeder though, he used to bully kevin the gerbil, it was sickening. timmy mallet invented funky house, fact

Its true about Timmy Mallet inventing Funky House. He was consumed with jealousy after Keith Chegwin discovering Handbag House and was determined to have a genre of his own.

Do you mind? We were talking about Timmy Mallet. And Keith Chegwin.

i think the funny smell may well have had something to do with keith chegwin and timmy mallet, i was told about a night where terry nutkins (yes, he did invent techno and us garage during his short stay at a zoo in detroit, its true) was playing in the little room at bed, well timmy and keith went into a jacking frenzy apparently with messy consequences, so im led to believe any way

Give up on this already kiddos! I was merely trying to highlight the utter inanity of the countless threads lamenting the demise of this place or that place or "didn't it used to be better when Monster Munch was made by Smiths" - it's the very nature of nostalgia innit?: The rose we remember, the thorns we forget...ya de ya de yah...
