I live near somerfields on Eccy road and I need to get to town every day for work (I work in the fountain precinct for siemens) for me new job. I want to know the best bus route to take to get there in rush hour traffic. I got the 50 today and it took 25 mins ( I can walk there in 35) and it cost me £1.05 for the pleasure of standing up all the way. any advice would be great there and back.

Cheers

Any of the 80s buses (81,82) should be quicker than the 50 or 59.

82/83/83a I'd have thought. Expect to stand nearly all of the time and pay rip off fares, as well as a bumpy ride with an often rude driver. Then come to your senses and buy a car.

Come to your senses and buy a cycle, you will do it in about 10 mins, faster than any other mode of transport from that area.

Mmhmm tell me about it! The day I get a car is the last time that robbing dog of a bus company will ever get another penny of my money! They've even put the fares up, so its now £1.10 to get to town from my house, should I forget my 40p pass. Grr its shocking!

A bike seems a great idea! It's virtually flat all the way and there is a bike stand by the Fountain Precinct entrance that's under cover and under the watchful eye of the security man.

Right, thanks for the advice guys. Ive been getting the 82 the last few days and its pretty quick but £1.05 for the pleasure. I've been walking back at night and that only takes 35 mins and as the weather has been nice it been great to stretch the old legs after a long day in the office. I think a bike is the way forward now the weather is only getting nicer. I used to live up a big hill and hated arriving sweaty to a lecture/work so cycling wasn't an option. now I've realised just how flat the route is into the city I think I'll be taking that option once again.

Thanks
