View Full Version : When you're drunk you think I'm lovely...
okayitsme 31-01-2006, 22:55 When you are drunk.. you think I'm lovely
What do you actually want?
I meet you, open myself up slowly, quietly with humility.
What would you ever see in me?
Im not pretty, or funny or articulate.
But you met me anyway.
We had a laugh,
We enjoyed conversations and anecdotes and quips and ... sex.
You phone me, drunk and delerious.
I am lovely, I am special .. you said
Then you didn't call.
Thats fine, we're grown adults we don't live in each others pockets.
The phone sits grinning like a laughing bully on the table,
"ha you sucker" it cries.
The mobile pings new message!
You're drunk again,
You tell me I am lovely again,
You say you need me.
Like a silly teenager I run to you,
Like a silly teenager I am happy.
Thats fine we're grown adults we don't live in each others pockets.
You're drunk, you say you're scared of being hurt,
Of being used,
Of falling in love again... but
I am lovely.
Am I really?
I don't feel very lovely.
I am your psychotherapist,
Your comfort blanket,
The sweet reminder that you can still pull,
The bitter actuality that I'm still there in the morning,
I was lovely until the sun rose and spoiled the moment.
It's different somehow.
To be with someone is better that being alone,
Is that who I am?
I know when that mobile pings,
I will come running,
Like the darkest nights need filling.
You need to know,
Each night is a piece of me,
I give myself to you,
Not physically but emotionally.
Hard hearted, painful and real,
The need for the touch of another human being.
The feeling that you really give a sh*t,
My priority? well that is it.
When you're drunk you think Im lovely....
When you're drunk you make me think I am loved.
BrainThrust 31-01-2006, 22:57 Thats brilliant....
Did you write that?
Wilf
okayitsme 31-01-2006, 22:59 Yes about 5 mins ago... feeling in one of those moods :|
BrainThrust 31-01-2006, 23:00 If it helps, I think everyone has felt in one of those moods, male OR female.
Wilf
I write more prose than poetry, but that's really good.
Thanks for sharing.
okayitsme 31-01-2006, 23:01 If it helps, I think everyone has felt in one of those moods, male OR female.
Wilf
Cheers Wilf.
BrainThrust 31-01-2006, 23:04 In my past I felt the same way about one forum member (glady no longer here).
Yes it hurts, I guess some people realising there is a person behind the words is a difficulty. Not just that but then linking that mind with the person they are ****ing.
Wilf
StarSparkle 31-01-2006, 23:07 That's beautiful.
I hope everything works out for you.
StarSparkle
aww thats really sweet, does the forumer know you wrote it for them? do you want them to know?
Oh dear, that's actually made me cry! That was amazing to read, thanks for sharing.
And yes, male or female, I think we've all felt like that before.
okayitsme 31-01-2006, 23:22 <--- girly

okayitsme 31-01-2006, 23:31 Great stuff, and an excellent debut post.
I would say thank you but, it was just from the heart
40summat 31-01-2006, 23:40 I would say thank you but, it was just from the heart
Well if you ever want to reveal your innermost thoughts and emotions in this way again you will have a very appreciative audience, and the forum will be all the richer for it.
Be Happy:)
fox20thc 31-01-2006, 23:44 Deep, very deep. A bit scary actually:cool:
Crayfish 01-02-2006, 00:03 I've never been in that particular situation, but reading that made me feel for a moment what it'd be like. That is really beautiful. It's strange how the darker emotions wake up the creative mind.
All the best with it.
okayitsme 01-02-2006, 00:07 Really interesting that people can put themselves in that position? How did it make you feel?
livestrong 01-02-2006, 00:11 tres bien...
a very nice piece written from the heart...
okayitsme 01-02-2006, 00:15 Merci Livestrong... J'taime ..... "everyone" not just you that would be wierd
okayitsme 01-02-2006, 00:19 aww thats really sweet, does the forumer know you wrote it for them? do you want them to know?
NO I don't
livestrong 01-02-2006, 00:23 moi aussi j'aime tout le monde... le monde a besoin d'amour
okayitsme 01-02-2006, 00:27 pardon?
Je suis anglais, je ne parle francais ! :o (apologies for really bad french)
Crayfish 01-02-2006, 00:37 Well... to be honest, I don't take kindly to being messed around and even if it caused me a lot of pain I'd just get out of there and deal with that pain myself rather than carry on that way.
But, that's just me.

Thing is crayfish, I am in pain, but not confused. I know he has "issues" we all have them,
I'm just seeing it from a girly persective, Im sensitive.
Some fine song lyrics there - most of the best songs come from some form of turmoil - put it to music!
Crayfish 01-02-2006, 00:59 I was thinking that actually :)
Had a go in my head though, didn't seem to work that well, poetry isn't often easy to songify.
Sorry okayitsme, didn't mean to imply you were confused. That'd be my take on the situation in your place but that's just because I hate playing games. I don't know, maybe I imagined myself into a place that isn't actually where you are from your original post.
Pseudonym 01-02-2006, 04:41 A heartfelt, poignant description of the acts of a "user"... Time to wise-up maybe?
okayitsme 01-02-2006, 08:36 Morning everyone.
Ahh the night can do funny things to a person can't it. I just read my poem back and thought "how pathetic am I"
Feeling much better this morning, thanks for all your kind words.
GoGo_dancer 01-02-2006, 08:45 Wow, I loved reading that.
Although it did remind me of my ex.....man that guy had issues!! My excuse was I was on the rebound -BIG time!!
Actually I feel quite positive now cause I know how lucky I am to have gotten out of that relationship when I did!
Thanks!
thats really good, i used to do a lot of writing and had a few things published but thats better than anything i ever wrote
fox20thc 01-02-2006, 09:31 Just saw this pop up again, ouch thats pretty strong stuff, but Im sure we have all felt like this at one time or another.
Sorry for quoting out of the poem but this bit really bites.
I am your psychotherapist,
Your comfort blanket,
The sweet reminder that you can still pull,
The bitter actuality that I'm still there in the morning,
I was lovely until the sun rose and spoiled the moment.
Hope you feel happier soon

bet you could guess who it is.
Hmm, well someone has told me to stick the poem on the poetry thread for posterity so I shall go away and find one.
:)
CherryNicole 01-02-2006, 11:40 That was really good :D thanks for sharing it. I have definitely felt like this before and it lasted a long time, its one of the worst feelings
okayitsme 01-02-2006, 21:45 update
He just texted me.. I will not be answering. :|
okayitsme 02-02-2006, 18:32 He is truly a git!
I did answer his text (like a fool) and things were fine until today :|
When will we ever learn? Come to think of it I would appreciate a guys opinion on this. Why do you do that?
I wouldnt do it!! I think its a horrible thing to do to someone, i dont htink its cos hes a guy i think its just cos hes a w****r
okayitsme 02-02-2006, 18:48 I wouldnt do it!! I think its a horrible thing to do to someone, i dont htink its cos hes a guy i think its just cos hes a w****r
Cheers duffer I mirror those sentiments.
Problem is that people just don't realise what it does to someones self esteem. You can't just pick yourself up when someone leaves you feeling like a bag of sh*t.
Just wanted to say this.
I don't think you should ever say 'it's pathetic' when it's words from the heart. We're only human, are we not ?
Maybe this is the beauty of the internet. Everybody's anonymous. You're able to express yourself and reach a larger audience. Obviously, we're reading... but, hopefully what you wrote here would have a totally different meaning one day. Like any other songs and poems through time. Don't worry, one day, the threads will be pushed back, and be filed and achived somewhere on a server, like a piece of history.
You asked, why and what did we readers thought of it. I will also quote the same as previously;
I am your psychotherapist,
Your comfort blanket,
The sweet reminder that you can still pull,
The bitter actuality that I'm still there in the morning,
I was lovely until the sun rose and spoiled the moment.
This part caught my eyes. (Maybe cos I can relate to such a position ? Who knows. It brought back some old memories for myself.) You shouldn't be someone's psycho-therapist. You should be their lover. Neither should you be their mother. If someone gives you such feelings, then maybe they are not meant to be for you ? Be with someone that brings out the best in you, and you them.
He is truly a git!

Just read your poem for the first time and I thought YOU were a bloke!! Shows that what you wrote is relevent to both sexes.
Cheers duffer I mirror those sentiments.

Yeah i know! But part of getting over it is realising that hes a n*b and not worth the hassle. Cos then youll know that youre worth more than that. Picking yourself up is EXACTLY what youve got to do. Its just one of those things that youve got to do yourself, unfortunatley as much as other people can say it and give you good advice, you need to stand up for yourself.

I will Duffer, and thanks to all you lovely people who are reading my ramblings, but sometimes thats what you do. If you don't waffle on like a crazy person you go a bit loopy.
Bear with me tonight please, I may go a bit crazy.
evildrneil 02-02-2006, 19:18 When will we ever learn? Come to think of it I would appreciate a guys opinion on this. Why do you do that?
Many (if not most!) of us wouldn't. Not all blokes are ****s - some are, most aren't - it's not the Y chromosome that does it, it's just the fact that well they're ****s!

Glad to hear it oh evil one! :) There's nothing worse that a rampant Y chromosome.
Go out and get some beers!

Crayfish 02-02-2006, 22:17 Aye, I'll second that Neil - the fact is, quite a lot of people seem to become ******** in relationships. Don't think gender has a lot to do with it.
