Does anyone know how I can get music to play on my myspace page? I've downloaded a song from Itunes that I'd like to use but am not sure if I need to insert some XHTML code somewhere or something.

I found a myspace editor which I used to create a code for the background, colours and so on but it doesn't tell me about music.

If you've downloaded it from iTunes, then chances are it won't work. iTunes default format is .m4a (.m4p if you've download it - the p means it's a protected file).

iTunes will convert .m4a tracks to mp3 but it won't convert .m4p (as you have to pay for them).

If I want to leave a comment containing a picture on a friend's board, how do I get the pic in? I've done it before but I can't remember. The pic I want is just one I have saved on my computer. I tried copying and pasting but that didn't work. Any clues from the more technically minded among you?

The picture would need to already be online (if it's not, the find somewhere you can upload it to, like flickr or photobucket). To insert it. type <img src="http://the full address of the picture you want to include">

So you set up a page about yourself, with your photo and heaps of personal information on for the whole world to see. You let your friends an family link to it at talk to you, again so the whole world can see. It contains really meaningful things like, which hollywood kiss you are and what percentage you love Pamala Andersons plastics. It has links upon links to spyware ridden sites, just so you can have a drawing board, that people can leave class room desk style pics on.

In the mean time. MYspace can use your photo where they like, collect every tiny bit of personal information about you, hand it out to other companies if they feel it will enhance you life (FOR THE 1000th TIME, MY PENI$ IS FINE THE SIZE IT IS THANKS).

Because like all websites of that ilk(Faceparty et al), they are in fact dating websites that allow people the pretence that theyre not actually a member of a dating website(thus avoiding the stigma thats attatched to these sites), but are instead members of an 'online community'.

People don't talk to their neighbours that much anymore (we do in meersbrook however!) so they talk to people on the net. MySpace makes it easy to find people with similar interests.

Oh! i can't stand the place. But my friends have got it, and its rude not have a nosey.

It does seem to be a place for people to take pictures of themselves tho and do quizzes about "how cool am i" etc...etc.. etc...

I use it because it's cheaper than sending a text and a few people I know have broken phones or I don't know them well enough to get a mobile number.

A lot of it is mutual self congratulation though,, but thats what friendship is about.

I don't get these people with one million friends though, usually female with men just adding them and being lewd, I can't see how that can appeal to anyone but the most shallow.

Online banner ads running on MySpace.com and web sites infected more than one million users with adware, according to net security firm iDefense.

The attack exploited a Windows Metafile (WMF) exploit, fixed by Microsoft in January, to infect vulnerable Windows machines with malware from PurityScan/ClickSpring family of adware. The malware surreptitiously tracks internet usage while bombarding infected users with pop-up ads.

The banner ad that played a staring role in the attack ostensibly advertised a site called deckoutyourdeck.com. In reality, machines were directed to Russian-language website in Turkey, which tracked the number of times adware programs were downloaded, the Washington Post reports.

Data on the site suggested that the adware had been installed on 1.07m PCs, a huge figure that equates to a big payday for the unknown perpetrators of the attack and plenty of pain for ordinary surfers. ®

I have had someone's myspace account deleted for breaching my copyright (music), they get no warning, they simply receive an email from myspace saying that the account has been deleted. I had to try twice to get a response from myspace, they only took action when I threatened legal action against myspace.

thats my site....:)

Been reading up on various customer reviews and complaints/comments, and messing with MYSPACE myself.....its rediculous that when someone adds a comment to any ones profile and includes some bad html code, deliberate or otherwise, it can destroy the entire profile they are comenting on.....the whole site seems full of holes and security issues.....


they acknowledge the problems in their own FAQ section, for example

"Why is my Profile page suddenly messed up? It has music, sound or strange graphics on it?

Your Profile page may suddenly change and/or appear messed up for 1 or 2 reasons. Either you added some HTML code to your Profile page improperly (i.e., forgot to close a tag, etc.), or someone else added an HTML Comment on your page. Others can place HTML code when leaving you a Comment on your Profile page. You may need to use “Safe Mode”. In the worst-case scenario, you may need to remove all your HTML coding (DO NOT delete your Profile), and start your HTML coding again from scratch. If the problem lies in a Comment that someone else left on your page, you can attempt to identify which Comment contains the HTML code, and delete it from the list of Comments on your Profile page. Though there is not always an easy way of identifying which Comment contains the embedded HTML code, you can often narrow it down by observing when the problem first occurred... i.e., if everything was fine until Comment "X" was added, then try deleting Comment "X" and see if the problem is solved. We strongly encourage you to attempt to resolve these issues yourself using the above solutions. "

Why was it poor? Because the coders sucked.

Why is it still poor after being bought by Rupert Murdoch? - No idea.

I can't even log in most times I try.

The HTML coding on MySpace is appalling I totally agree. If they'd thought about it properly and designed it properly then changing CSS would mean uploading a stylesheet so it could be loaded in the right place in the code instead of having to hack CSS into one of the fields in your profile.

As an idea it's absolutely fantastic. As for the coding and HTML I'd be embarassed to claim ownership. I could write something better in a weekend.

It's also incredibly slow for the most part nowadays.

Only good thing is it's free.

I am amazed someone else has not taken the whole concept and created a state of the art alternative version online.....only a matter of time....it would be me if I could do it.......must be a nice little earner!!!

There are plenty of myspace alternatives, but they are not as popular.

I just want to say this to all the nasty ignorant ppl out there who come on here thinking they no everything.

All i asked was simple question as i go on it to look up bands as i get very bored at work and sometimes u can actually meet some nice ppl on there.

As for the ppl sayin teenage thats the kind of sarcastic minded coment i would expect from a middle aged man who is bitter about youth and if that sounds like you then get a life not everyone cares what u think especially me.

Oh and one more thing for the ppl who make nasty comment then all i can say is is that the best youve got buddie as boy thats perthetic. Sticks and stones and all that . Dont u know u can try been nice its alot more appriciated.

to get 4 tracks you need a bands/artists one -you have a personal one im guessing -not sure but u should be able to change it

If you are not a band but just want more music on your page you can get some code to add more music to your page . . .

Yes your work, art etc is your copyright, you cannot copyright something though, a copyright is an automatic right.

It's not a dating site. You're not advertising yourself.

Some people may use it to do that, but most people (including myself) use it to keep in touch with friends, chat to a couple of cheeky ladies when bored and/or at work... and so people can get to know a bit about you (friends and otherwise).

As well as keeping in the know about bands/films etc that you're interested in.

Tis cool when you get a real one though. I have one who was famous when I was younger and regularly pass messages with, he tells me about normal stuff and then adds in about his writing. He messages loads of people, he must spend hours on there. I have one "friend" who is up and coming Acoustic star and then I have one of my childhood heroines - Annie Nightingale, the DJ, who used to make the Sunday night homework slog bearable. I was made up when i got a message back from her :D

Personally though, I think the Moe bartender on mine is a fake but I think the Homer Simpson might be real. :suspect:
