I sometimes feel that, through my postings, I may have developed an online relationship with other Forum members that may or may not have a certain level of "respect".

Occasionally, I see a thread to which I would like to post my frank, true opinion but I am held back by the thought that it may change people's respect for other , more important, posts.

It is then that i wish that i had a second Forum ID that would allow me to post as Dr Jekyll as opposed to Mr Hyde!

I accept this as being against the Forum rules, but it would sometimes make life a little easier!:hihi:

Am I alone in this?

(this is not a request for a rule change, by the way. Just a conversational observation!)

Whats it matter what anyone else thinks so long as you're happy with yourself?

Do you hold back what you say to people in real life incase it changes their opinion of you? I don't.

One of the really great things is that theoretically no-one knows who you are so you can make up the rules about how you want to be and change them to suit yourself. Cant see what's to stop you expressing yourself however you want.

Come on cgk, you won't even tell us your real name so it doesn't really matter.

I'd like you no matter if you were nasty or nice.

I post under my own name precisely but post nothing taht I wouldn't say to people in conversation.

Years ago it was suggested to me that if you're about to post or do something that you feel is a bit iffy, think about how you'd feel if your mother were to see it... :)

Be yourself!

Before I do, say or buy anything, I always think to myself, 'Would Mum approve ?' If the answer is yes, I just don't bother...............

If you ever take the time to read peoples' posts, you would know, in common with three-quarters of self taught three fingered touch typists, Joe regularly tranposes the letters T and H, so you often get 'teh' 'taht' tehm' etc.

Also, you'd do well to note that it's not a spelling mistake, it's a typo. And pouncing on typos, unless they are deliberately insulting or humurous, is lame.

A spelling mistake is going your whole life thinking it's spelled 'perjorative' when in fact it is spelled 'pejorative'. As I discovered I had been doing until this morning.

(Forum Search boffins will note I could not reedit one post because the thread has been closed, but all 4 other instances were corrected),

Remember the word NIKE Just Do It!

I'm surprised such a Veteran poster worries of such trivia???

I think the Annonymity of the Net allows you to express your inner thoughts though, ones you wouldn't always want to discuss with people you know. Is that wrong?

You don't double post under the name of don_kiddick, or his doppleganger Viking by any chance, then :)

I hate it when people say this - yes you do! Unless you walk around saying to random shop assistants "wow, you're fat, I wonder how you got like that!" or tell your colleagues that you think their baby is ugly or whatever! Everyone tones down their speech to some extent (although granted some more than others!)

The allure of anonymity - we've all felt it, haven't we? - But wd one alter ego be enough? I'm in sympathy with Walt Whitman here: "I contradict myself. I am vast. I contain multitudes..."

Sadly I've burnt my boats, anonymity-wise, because of my signature...

I can understand some people wanting to hide their true identity in order to post in a way that wouldn't usually be expected of them. However, it's open to abuse, with some having several IDs, and/or having an ID banned for posting against the forum rules, only to start another ID.

For myself, I'm happy as I am and, if I ever get banned, then so be it.

These postings give me a headache!

Can we let those who post like this have alternative ID's so they can post in english too?

Admin, if you are there, hows about it!!!Did you try using the contact us button? That hasn't been working for about a month.

The best way is to PM either JoeP and/or Tony directly, but I think they are still trying to get the updated forum working properly.

One as to be very careful in user name, tone and rhythmic flow of words one quickly gets Idea of type of sender, almost like signing your name at end.So to confuse the enemy, change type and flow of sending If you'er good speller make lots of mistakes,Just remember always keep-um guessing.
