View Full Version : Lez Zeppelin
LordChaverly 30-01-2006, 18:09 I thought this group would be Australian (a spin on the old joke about the Aussie who went the see Les Miserables and said that it was a great show, but he just couldn't figure out which one was Les).
It turns out that they are Americans, and female into the bargain- and possibly Lesbians. From the report, they appear to be worth listening to (I have a CD of a band called Bootleg Zep and they do a pretty good take on LZ too. With regard to LZ, even the tribute bands are good!

Phanerothyme 30-01-2006, 18:23 Are they as good as Dredd Zeppelin (http://www.dreadzeppelin.com/jpg/kerrio_wallpaper/towel2.jpg)?

Indeed they are - but I'll wager Lez Zeppelin are better looking.
We await the debut of Lex Zeppelin (a group of lawyers); Hex Zeppelin (wizzards); Txt Zeppelin (mobile phone makers); Mex Zeppelin (with a Tijuana brass sound); Tex Zeppelin (good ole' boys); and last but not least Dead Zeppelin (a clairvoyant summoning up a John Bonham drum solo).

*leaves by the backdoor with head bowed in shame*
LordChaverly 31-01-2006, 10:35 What about Des Zeppelin (Des O'Connor singing his favourite LZ songs?).

I'll wager that the drummer is definitely the one in the hat (and that her name is Joan Bonham)

Les Zeppelin?
Les Dennis singing his favourite zeppelin songs :gag: :hihi:
Lord C,
Shortly after Bonham's death, there were rumours of a new band emerging, made up of the remaining Zeppelin musicians and some from Yes [from one of the many incarnations of that band]. LedYes? Yes Zeppelin? Thank goodness it never got off the ground.

Thank goodness indeed Timo. The best things about Yes were the album covers. Everything else was pretentious, superficial and artless dross, from the adenoidal whine of the castrato lead singer to the convoluted, meandering and nonsensical lyrics. Yes did more to discredit the idea of a concept album than any other band. Yes? I say No. No. No!

I thought their first album, Yes was pretty good actually. The rest of it can go hang, but "the clap" still stands out.

There have been similar rumours Timo regarding an amalgamation and co-operation between Dire Straits and Geordie singer, Chris Rea but I believe they have had some problems over a suitable choice of name:D
Phan,
In my experience 'the clap' does stand out [and I'm not talking about unimaginative guitar solos by Steve Howe either].
Daverity,
Yes, very good! Who would sponsor them- Immodium?
Lord C,
Aside from Bill Bruford's masterful drumming, I too had little time for Yes. Distressed Corncrake-impersonator and diminutive Lancastrian, Jon Anderson really did write some atrocious lyrics. The ones for 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' are simply unforgivable. I recall laughing out loud the first time I heard the opening track of 'Relayer' [aged about 14/15]. Anderson's Accrington burr-tinged castrato coupled with the daft lines 'Stand and fight wee doo considerr, reminded of an innerr pact between us' [sic] rendered me helpless. He should have repeated himself like Coronation Street's Fred Elliott, i.e, 'Would you like a blood sausage, I say, would you like a blood sausage, Rita?' etc. That would have been even better. I remember a solo concept album by Anderson too- 'Olias of Sunhillow'. How perfectly ridiculous.
Just let's hope nobody starts a "Right Said Fred Zeppelin".
