Just a simple plea to anyone that rides or knows anyone that rides a motorbike, quadbike or something similar along bridlepaths.

I don't know if it's legal or not for them to be ridden along there, but please if you do can you be careful. I horseride out most weekends and every week recently we have some near incident caused by people riding these bikes pell mell along the bridle paths.

Even the uneventful weeks are problematic because of the state of these paths caused by off roaders, some of the paths are now so churned up it is dangerous to even attempt to ride on them.

People complain about horses being on the roads but when the designated paths are becoming unusable we have no choice but to use the roads instead.

So if you know anyone who rides their bike along these paths please can you remind them to be extremely careful and ask them to spare a thought for the state they are leaving these paths in.

Thanks

No motorised vehicles are allowed on bridleways - only on byways or RUPPs (roads used as public paths) - so check on the definitive map whether you are on a bridleway. If you are, complain loudly to the Council and get in touch with the BHS Access Officer for help.

It's definately a bridleway - it's got the little signs and those wooden things that are supposed to stop vehicles coming in.

What are British Home Stores going to do about it?:loopy:

That would be the 'other' BHS - the British Horse Society!
