View Full Version : Best restaurant on London Road?
drp215 29-01-2006, 11:15 PM Going out for a meal tomorrow...we've done Persian, and dodgy chinese chicken feet but this time it's my turn to choose a restaurant on this wonderful road with too many to choose from?
Any great suggestions?
Martini's... See the thread in the Going out in Sheffield board for the reason why :)
It's an Italian Restaurant by the way, well worth the time to visit, cheap prices, excellent food, top class service and you can even see into the Kitchen to see your food being prepared.
Tartempion 29-01-2006, 11:28 PM Did you get your dodgy chicken feet from Dim Sum by any chance?
I love Dim Sum. It's my favourite restaurant on London Road. The won ton soup is brilliant.
You'd never catch me eating chicken feet though. You ever seen what chickens walk around in all day long. And how is there anything other than bones in a chicken's foot. Why would I eat bones...? The whelks in satay sauce were about as far as I'd go. Watch out for 'Steamed manifold' too - sounds romantic, full of eastern promise yeah? It's tripe. Chinese tripe. Yuk.
BrainThrust 29-01-2006, 11:36 PM Zeugma is good but you'll need to book.

We did! I'm sure it is a wonderful place but I think we were a little over-adventurous with the ordering!

B!oody hell I'm losing count of how many times I've mentioned the place but Siam Inter Thai restaurant is top drawer...went again friday night and was impressed yet again... top food, friendly, reasonably priced, so my vote goes for there!
If your not after curry/noodles/rice then I wouldn't particuarly recommend ANY of the Italians but the Froggy's Bistro is very good, more expensive than a curry obviously but the choice/standard of the food and atmosphere is worth the moola :)
Fantomas 30-01-2006, 11:10 AM As Mrs Fantomas so often says: Dim Sum - Yum Yum!
So either there or Jabu if there's not a huge party of you for some Chinese steamboat cooking action.
SimonS 30-01-2006, 01:12 PM Kumquat Mae. (Technically on Abbeydale Road).

After Friday's forum meet at Martini's, I would highly recommend it.
SimonS 30-01-2006, 01:22 PM Have you tried Kumquat Mae?
I went to Marmaris (Turkish restaurant) last week and it was excellent. The menu is a bit heavy on the meat, but there was at least one vegetarian option, though only a couple of desserts. Can't fault the service though.
Randy Savage 30-01-2006, 01:33 PM Zeugma - turkish. V V nice. Lots of veggie and meat options..
Open BBQ cooking amongst other things..
alchemistra 30-01-2006, 02:14 PM No-one's mentioned Wasaabi Saabi yet...
It's a very nice japanese place - a little on the pricy side though...
mmm.... saki & sushi :D
drp215 30-01-2006, 02:17 PM Some fab sounding places...mouth watering already and we're not going till 8 tonight! Really could do a Thai if it is nice (I love Bahn nai in Broomhill and haven't found any to rival it yet!) Is it on London Road itself? Either that or Turkish sounds good, I like the heavy on the meat idea!

Wasabi is great I agree, though I've only ever been to the Teppanyaki side, very very impressed!

I love this restaurant - great service, fab food. We went on a Sunday evening and it had a nice chilled atmosphere.
RozeePozee 31-01-2006, 11:22 PM i know its not london road but whats cafe guru like ?I thought this was a little up itself when I went a kind of trendy Indian. The food was okay but the service was appalling. The waiters seemed to beleive they were there to look good rather than serve us

Meaks, your link doesn't work, it says "invalid thread", perhaps you need to tell JoeP about that.
