View Full Version : Star sign Compatibility
Just wondering what people think about so-called Starsign Compatibility and the theory your starsign dictates who you will or won't be compatible with.
Any stories from people who are apparently compatible and have split up, or others who are non compatible and have still made it work?
Here's a chart (http://www.kellystarsigns.com/compatibility/comp.html) to help you out

I've found it mildly interesting in the past but I think that the newspaper and magazine horoscopes are just made up alot of the time. They just print a load of random waffle about the sign of jupiter being in saturn's inner ring and say that it means you need to watch your back this weekend and you shouldn't feel bad because it's ok to be needed......whatever that means. This could apply to anyone.
I'm still very much a sceptic as far as the love-match things go and it's not a good thing to base your relationships on really. I was just curious if there was anyone out there who could disprove the experts.......HAHAHA...experts!! :loopy:

Perfect Partners: Cancer, Pisces
YAY I'm the scorpion and Chris is Pisces... Could be right, we've been together a year and a half! :D
fnkysknky 22-03-2004, 12:41 Hahahahaha - under every one it has 'Like Minded Souls' then has the same star sign - hardly a f****** surprise is it. Mind you I don't believe any of it anyway.
Mosherchik 22-03-2004, 15:53 I agree with t020 :wow:
Not big on the movements of balls of gases being able to predict your future and who youre mostly likely to get on with.
Im a Leo, my best mate is a Virgo and according to astrology and compatability we should violently detest each other :loopy: and we're practicallt like twins, in fact we have been mistaken for sisters many times :D
I dont hold with stars and charts for meeting your perfect partner, youre the way you are because of how you were brought up and family and friend influences and not because of what day you were born on! So long as you get on, who gives a stuff what your star sign is  Ive heard of people splitting up because they've found out they're not astrologically compatable :loopy: its ridiculous.
I dont mind going along with the whole star-sign, chinese signs, tarot stuff with my mates because its all a bit of a laugh, its when you start taking it seriously and letting stuff like that rule your life I think you have a problem!
I don't believe, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.
Phanerothyme 22-03-2004, 16:17 Astrology is a tool for introspection, and the study of it will not yield any special knowledge that could not be more easily gleaned elsewhere.
What I want to know is what do astrologers do with the discovery of new planets?
But yeah, the long and the short of it is - I'm with t020 on this one -
its a load of old cobblers for those of us who require the illusion of control and understanding of our lives!
Like religion, but less well thought out and completely lacking a moral compass of any description.
And as for the newspaper horoscopes.....they are nowadays just ways of selling premium rate lines to the ammassed gullible readers of Cainer, Grant et al.
Cheers guys. Keep it coming....

Given that the influence of the planet Jupiter upon you at the time of your birth, is roughly 1/1000 as much as the influence of the midwife at a distance of three feet... exactly how do you think it can help?
Does your star chart include the position of your midwife at any given time? I've never seen one that does.
HappyHoosier 24-10-2007, 09:34 Sun signs are just a small portion of one's full horoscope chart, and represent only limited aspects of who you are. Therefore, they alone cannot accurately predict compatibility between two people.
It's like saying all brown-eyed people, or all tall people, or all left-handed people should be romantically compatible.
whitewitch 24-10-2007, 13:03 well, im a libra and my ex fiancee was leo, we were supposed to be the perfect match, which was totally untrue, we fought like cat and dog:) meeeooow
Don_Kiddick 24-10-2007, 15:57 I don't read Horoscopes anymore.
I recall the last one I read, it said "...this month you will have Mars in Uranus"....
I was apalled :o
happylady 24-10-2007, 19:32 I'm a virgo and my hubby's an aquarian and we're supposed to be sooo uncompatible - we've been together 25 years this month so read into that what you can;)

My 1st Boyfriend was an Aries. What a waste of spece he was!
My brother is a Libra. We do get on but not that well!
My best friend is a fellow Saggie. We are total opposites in some respects though.
My Dad is a Taurus. Gotta love him but we don't half argue. Too alike I've been told!
My recent Ex was a Cancer. Together 2 1/2 years comes to the crunch and he ends it! Nuf said really.
A really good friend of mine is a Scorpio. Not really all that different though.
My mum is a Gemini. Get on really well and never argue!
Seems to me my chart is a little mixed up! :hihi:
ARIES are very FORTHCOMING,they tend to go OVERBOARD (Not easy for someone to deal with)
What a load of crap Im reading.
I don't see why it wouldn't be conected, humans are the dominant species and without stars and planets we couldn't exist, so why wouldn't they be able to lead us?

Without cobalt, we're unable to exist. Does that prove that a great big lump of metal dumped on my balcony can give me important life lessons?
I refer you, again, to my above comments about the relative influence on a newborn baby of the planet Jupiter, at a distance of four hundred million miles, and a midwife at a distance of three feet. I've yet to hear anybody who believes in, or defends, astrology even attempt to answer my question; after so many years, I don't really expect I ever will. They go very quiet when you point out that their supposed rationalisation is about as sensible as blaming a fruit fly for assassinating Robert F. Kennedy.

In theory we live in a single, infinate space, so prospect of 'distance' is man made, so the midwife is no closer than Jupiter.
Waltheof 25-10-2007, 23:39 "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars,
But in ourselves that we are underlings"
(Shakespeare, Julius Caesar)
One can understand the evolution of astrology at a time when the model of the cosmos was geocentric, with the earth in the centre and everything orbiting around it, and also perspectives of space and distance being very limited. The Church was very ambivalent about this pseudoscience because it could so easily be used as an excuse to disclaim responsibility for one's actions or character (cf Chaucer's Wife of Bath). With the findings of modern science I would consider that astrology has no place in serious consideration of our character or actions. That said, one can still recognise that through the laws of physics certain heavenly bodies may exercise some sort of influence on us, e.g. the moon, contributing to the tides and to the Circassian rhythm of our physiology, and tying in with female periods.
andrewchase 26-10-2007, 00:10 I'm not compatible with anyone who is feckless enought to believe the same stuff is going to happen to 1/12 of the population on any given day/week/month.
What a load of crap Im reading.I see the same kinda response in people who are afraid of something,so they try and deny it and laugh it off.....
I see the same kinda response in people who are afraid of something,so they try and deny it and laugh it off..... And another load! Whats going on lad, Are you sure they dont laugh at it?
I match virgo and capricorn. Most of the stuff I glazed over on their is true...''what you see is what you get!!!''
beryllium 26-10-2007, 12:05 I'm not compatible with anyone who is feckless enought to believe the same stuff is going to happen to 1/12 of the population on any given day/week/month.
Too right. And since Neptune was downgraded and is not considered to be a fully-fledged planet anymore, I haven't heard that all those rigorous astrologists have upgraded their oh-so-precise charts!

beryllium 26-10-2007, 12:07 Sorry, the non-planet in question is pluto.....
the-lioness 26-10-2007, 12:13 well ive only ever been out with Capricorn's - im a typical Leo (loud, bossy lol ) and maybe the calming level headed personalities of Capricorn's are drawn to an opposite personality! (oh hang on that can't be true they were all w*****s) :hihi::rolleyes:
LibertyBell 26-10-2007, 12:51 I'm a Saggie.
Have you tried wearing a different make of bra? :|

That's not a theory. It's a preposterous claim with no evidence whasoever to back it up. Anyone with as much as a ten-foot pole can prove it wrong.
