View Full Version : Strictly Come Dancing
Bruce Forsyth has been chosen to be the frontman for Strictly Come Dancing which will pair celebrities with professional ballroom dancers unlike the old Come Dancing. It is to be part of a fresh outlook of programmes to add a bit of variety to Saturday night television on the BBC.
Somehow I don't think I'll be tuning in. :o

I used to love watching come dancing as a kid!!! Yes I admit it.
Was gutted when they axed it, as were a lot of people. Bringing it back with celebs is just not right though. It should be left to proper dancers.
Peggy spencer's formation dancing :)
Bruce Forsyth AGAIN?! WTF?! I mean the guy's good but everybody needs to retire at SOME poinr, poor bloke's in his late 60s if not early 70s!
I agree he should retire. I thought I read somewhere that he was going to start slowing down. However, he may be one of those who need to keep active.
Yodameister 04-07-2004, 11:03 Why is it that we are inflicted to celebrities doing things on TV that we would not be subjected to if it is just normal people.
Trouble is anyone who wants a idea commissioned for TV it has to have some element of "reality TV", "celebrity challenge" or "Home decorating/Home moving"
The highlight of Strictly Come Dancing for me has been Claire Sweeney in skimpy Ball gowns :P
Well I do think she's quite nice for a scouser.
Can someone please tell me who won the final?
I was sat watching it and decided to flick over during the last commercial break to watch abit of Big Brother - I totally forgot to flick back over!! and just caught the end credits.:(
Nat and Brendan won it - full details here :

Think he's nearing his 80's. You've got to hand it to him though how many people do you know who have made a living out of showbiz for well over 50 years and still going strong.
True.
He does look good for his age though t'old lad :D
Yes, I am convinced he is one of those cases that if he were to pack in he would deteriorate rapidly. Keeping active keeps him strong.

That and having a much younger ex-beauty queen wife
I have really enjoyed the series and it has really annoyed me that somebody as bad as the lad from Eastenders has got to the final. He can hardly walk never mind dance. It has only been the viewer's vote which has got him through. I am really glad Natasha won because she has worked hard and is not a natural performer. They have all been good sports and it is for charity after all. He has taken a lot of criticism and still come back week after week.
WallBuilder 23-10-2004, 19:00 Hurrah, the new series has started and before anybody starts booing it's got to be better than Harry Hill. I know a little about ballroom and I take my hat off to the celebrities who get out there and give it a go. The girls as usual looked stunning a lot of fake tan in evidence but those dresses!!! I felt really sorry for Quentin Wilson Don't somehow think he's going to get very far and was quite relieved that Julian Clary hasn't so far used any of the pathetic double entendres that he usually does.
Right time to get off and see who's been voted out this week.
PaulTansley 24-10-2004, 12:19 I think its a very entertaining programme and even better it clashes with the X Factor so that means I don't have to be saddled with that as the other half never misses it.
She does now though, I put my dancin foot down last night to her dismay.
I did'nt feel sorry for Quentin Hill, I felt sorry for his partner who no doubt wanted to come back and get herself known for as long as she could but now has to make a swift exit.
Wheres Anna Kossanova, did,nt see her on, she will be sorely missed.
Did'nt really see how the others danced as I am to focused on the birds which is really why I watch it.
Heard Roger Black did well after he danced, though like i said i was to busy watching his partner.

I agree. He only reached the final because all the young girlies were voting for him. Natasha deserved it as she was clearly the best dancer.
WallBuilder 30-10-2004, 22:34 Sat through the second saturday show and have to say I'm amazed at the general standard of dancing, I've noticed though that if the celebs are making a rreal hash of things the camera very kindly changes it's view and you get a head and shoulders shot so you don't see them falling over their own feet. Rather a shame that Carol got the boot tonight as she was showing a side to her character that I'd not previously been aware of. Next week should really be fun with the jive.
I watched tonites show and am glad carol went as she was being a bit too "excited" and showing off ??? (not sure if thats the right way to describe her behaviour) Julian Clary looked great and Roger did well even tho he messed up. Aled was good too looks better for the drop in weight too. Kinda makes you think dancing is the next diet fad !!!!!! arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhh
WallBuilder 30-10-2004, 23:09 Julian was a real surprise he's obviously been listening to his partner and he gave a passable imitation of a dancer with his rise and fall. Going on the dancing alone though Esther was far behind Carol and I suspect she got through as everybody loves her partner Anton.
All of the celebs comment on the sheer physical effort involved in the training and so I'm not in the least surprised that they find the weight falling off, it'd be nice to see Natasha dabce again and I'd really like to see those judges up and dancing or maybe that's too easy maybe send them to do something they've never attempted, hang gliding for example then we'd get some expert hang gliders to give their professional opinion.
WallBuilder 13-11-2004, 21:46 Sorry to keep on going on about this particular program but it's such fun. Okay I know I've got a dance background but how can any red blooded male not love those outfits that are created for the girls to wear.
Quite funny as well to see them in training and then the stunning transformations that appear on the night, [looks wise]
I think the standard of dancing is up on the first series and think that all the celebs should be winners, [speaking from experience you should see me waltz]
I would love to find a partner to dance with to do Latin American, any Offers ou there?
WallBuilder 21-11-2004, 00:06 Brucie is really starting to annoy me, I have a feeling he's past his sel-by date. He tries to get laughs by referring to his earlier successes? and tonight was caught out when the auto cue went wrong and he couldn't handle it. Also Natasha who although stunning to look at has developed a very false laugh at his tired old jokes, if there is nother series and i for one hope there is, I hope that he is pensioned off and left to retitre gracefully.
I'm also beginning to think that one of the judges isn't judging one of the contestants on her dancing skillls, although she is verey good, he's made one to many comments on how gorgeous she looks.
WallBuilder 14-12-2004, 21:49 I really enjoyed this latest series but was then rather perturbed to hear that there is going to be a spin off from this hosted by the obnoxious Graham Norton. The idea of him trawling around the country looking for would be dancers sounds really grim, loads of people with absolutely no talent, horrible little children being either pushed by their doting parents or just precoscious. I wonder whether it will include groups of girls who all want to dance like the so called music groups of today. Oh dear!!
