View Full Version : Is MSN down at the moment? BrainThrust 28-01-2006, 21:50 Hi guys, As the title suggests, I can't log onto MSN at the moment. Anyone else having difficulty? Wilf Kristian 28-01-2006, 21:51 Everything is good here. Sorry Wilf :( K x spyro2000 28-01-2006, 22:09 Yep, Its all good here aswell. Have you tried the troubleshooting option? sparklygem 28-01-2006, 22:10 mines working fine BrainThrust 28-01-2006, 22:16 the troubleshooting option says that my gateway appears to be offline. I failt o see how that can be on ym side since I'm connected and talking on here. Wilf EDIT: Fixed now! HotPhil 30-01-2006, 08:14 There's a status page at http://status.messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx?mkt=en-us where they display any issues. BrainThrust 30-01-2006, 16:35 ok, it's playing up again now so I'm pretty sure it is my Laptop. I have two connections set up on it (one dial up for at home, one broadband for when I'm at uni). Now recently my friend managed to stop it using ie when it really shouldn't (IE is broken and I can't fix it with re-installing XP, and old BT program screwed it over majestically) and he managed to get it just to show the dial up box instead. Anyway I got sick of this and so deleted the dial up connection profile, leaving only the broadband one, and now MSN says It can't connect to the gateway, the most likely rteason being I'm not connected. Could this be because msn always tries to use the dial up connection, even when it's not there. How can I get it to default use the broadband one of this is the case? Wilf BrainThrust 30-01-2006, 19:26 Please guys, can't cope without it, I can't make any plans for tonight/tomorrow without it! Wilf Ann* 30-01-2006, 19:35 Uninstall MSN Messenger, then go to MSN.com and reinstall it. It should reinstall to use whatever internet connection you are using at the time. btw you can reinstall XP without having to reformat, provided you have enough space left on your HD. Also, in the main contact window, click Tools>Options>Privacy Tab>make sure you tick box near the top saying something like Only people on my allow list can see my status. BrainThrust 30-01-2006, 20:02 Still not working, but then again I can't reconfigure Internet explorer as it's broken, I can't even get to it! Wilf Ann* 30-01-2006, 20:06 Do you have MSN Explorer? If you use a hotmail/msn addy as your login on Messenger, you can login to MSN Explorer, which incorporates MSN Messenger. You can download it here (http://explorer.msn.com/install.htm). btw, MSN seems to be playing up generally (groups, MSN.com and elsewhere). Very slow, and page cannot be displayed messages everywhere.
