What an asset the baths were for us lucky locals - I lived nearby and went to Longley Juniors until 1966 then on to Chaucer until 1973. A very large pool and it was colder than Longley Baths, that's why I switched and started going to Longley. Started as a young boy and continued in my twenties. Often met the lads there after work. We loved it, it seemed so special to us at the time. My friend and I "wagged" school one day, that was in the very early 70's and didnt have any swim gear or towels so we bathed in our bra and pants.... let the sun dry us over and over again....
