kelvin flats at night

when i go to bed at night
and look out of my window
at the giant block
and the streets are deserted
kelvin becomes

a stage with no actors
a giant with no clothes
a ghost town

when the walkway is lit
but there's no-one walking along it
when the bin bags rustle in
the cool night wind
and taxis trundle
along infirmary road
looking for late night revellers
kelvin remains

an empty echo
a giant with no clothes
a stage with no actors

when the lift shaft stands silent
but for the banging of a door
that's got stuck
when you can hear a dog ten flats away
or next door's tv at 3am
cos they can't sleep
or he's back from a nightshift
kelvin is like

a stage with no actors
a giant with no clothes

It’s okay I suppose — but blank verse … ugh! I detest blank verse!

there are two more of my high rise poems on this site, at this link:

http://www.freewebs.com/streetsinthesky/poetry.htm

must admit, the standard varies, and they are not for those who "hate blank verse" (petew), but they are all 100% true and 200% depressing!

:hihi:
