May Day Demonstrations

Recommended Posts

Ok, so it's that time of year again. In a couple of days many people will gather in places around the world and protest against globalization etc. This particular demonstration is notorious for violent rampages. I have already read in the media that there a list of possible business targets for the more hardcore protestetors. What do you think of these protests? do you support them?

Disrupting commerce seems to be an effective way of putting pressure on any Government.

Your right to a certain extent. MayDay is not exactly a public holiday it is the week after, but the protests in question are always held on the bank holiday. I believe our May 1st is associated and related to a labour dispute in late 19th century. Mayday as a working class holiday developed from the US workers struggle for the eight hour day in 1886. The working class movement in the USA began campaigning for an eight hour day in the 1860s, following the Civil War. The historic strike of May 1st, 1886 was a culmination of a concerted struggle. Chicago was the major industrial centre of the USA. Police attacked striking workers from the killing six.

I really cannot see why the Government tolerates these Idiots that go on the rampage. They should be locked away for a long time until they see the error of their ways.

All this trouble is putting pressure on the astablishment and it is costing the taxpayers a bomb. Extra pay and overtime for the police cost of the damage caused disruption to traffic and commerce.

It is alright to demonstrate peacefully but these thugs are not satisfied with that they intend to cause mayhem. Resorting to violence is not the answer. Teach them a lesson they will not forget.

problem solved!!!!!!!!

It's a rare chance to relax, chill, have a few beers, smile a bit look around and see some of lifes good things.

Protests do more harm than good,if something needs changing it has to be done from the inside.
