Hi, I have been away from England for 16 months, I am coming back to visit for a few weeks.

What is new and worth seeing in Sheffield... buildings, galleries, whatever. Looking forward to your suggestions.

have a wander around west street and the devonshire quarter just to see the changes there making currently! nothing specific (well apart from west one) just the public realm changes!

There's a huge crane between the Town Hall and new Winter Gardens, where a new hotel is being built.

Redvers House, the tall one of the council buildings is halfway through a makeover, looking nice on the top and ****e on the bottom!

i highly recommend checking out the road surface on the roundabout on the safeway's shopping store end of Ecclesall Road - take a picture and dream of it.
Maybe one day all roads in sheffield might be this smooth. failing that - i heard that they put the bins out eventually in front of my place - so my house is worth a gander too if you've got the time!!

Well I am jumping on the plane today.... thanks for the suggestions... I am sure it is the humour I miss the most ;)

I must go see where they have built over the road, Devonshire Street is it? That sounds too crazy to be true! Will poke around Rare & Racy... one of my fave haunts. Read alot on here about the Millenium Galleries... guess I'll have a general wander and take in the sights.

Not looking forward to speed bumps and 'traffic angering' schemes again... thank heavens we don't have them in Wisconsin.

Thanks again.... maybe I'll give my impressions when I am home again in a month.

The old Jolly Buffer pub is now called the Classic Rock Bar and has live rock bands playing every night.

(sorry folks - couldn't resist the opportunity for the cheap plug there!)

Plug away mate!... I was a member of the CRS (classic rock society) until I moved away so anything rock'ish is welcome :D I'll be at one of their concerts this Saturday at Herringthorpe... Midwest here is rock radio everywhere... good to see the good stuff making a comeback in the UK.

Big Karnataka fan!

Fargate has now been flooded to make Sheffield Canal and you can now fly from the new international airport which uitilises the now defunct tram tracks by fitting the planes with tram style wheels. Also the two football teams have harmoniously merged to form Sheffield City (a.k.a Men of Steel) and they play in a fetching blue and red striped kit with orange shorts. Their new emblem a decapitated owl with samuria style sword thru its chest The two cooling towers now pipe whale music out of the top every hour on the hour to let all Sheffielders keep time. The M1 now runs very smoothy without any delays and the Council have recently announced new plans to reduce the Council Tax and refund all residents 25% of the previous years payments to thank you for making this city what it is.....ok I made up the last 2
