what do you miss the most..........for me it has to be the football specials, carriage after cariage of lads on the **** looking forward to taking over where ever you were heading, arriveing at the destination to be greeted and rounded up by the local old bill and then playing cat and mouse trying to escape the escort,if you did then you'd head to the nearest boozer and plan how we were gonna get on the oppositions kop,i was never a major player in these shinnanigans as i was only young'n at the time but i used to love being part of the mob with the mesters.......

unfortunatley these days will never return.

sad but true:|

I know, and even though we follow different teams the bobbies still looked down on us (it's difficult for em to look down on me) but the laughable part was that some of the bobbies used to come to the matches on their days off, and were worse than us normal folks. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

everybody in a football scarf were lablled a hooligan in them days...coppers used to shove people round like they were herds of cattle as you well know... that's true enough. There was a lot more excitement about footy then (when I were a lad etc) Like you said kirky the away days were summat else the home games too if you'd got a biggy coming to town. Wednesday didn't have many of them in the 70's though so I used to go to the Lane with my best mate at the time. West Ham, Spurs ,Newcastle it used to be a riot on the Shoreham ( and after) :)

Everyone used to go on the Shoreham in the 70s, Leeds, Man Utd, Liverpool, WEDNESDAY to name the main ones but Leeds and Liverpool were gone by half time when they ventured on mid 70s, the routine was to get on early and scrap it out......the good old days !
I do also remember Man Utd, Millwall, Forest and Villa on the East Bank in the 70s Man Utd and Villa stayed put due to vast numbers.
