Just watched Peter Cooke on Room 101.

Never liked him in the 60's with Dudley Moore never found either funny.

He was C**p never changes no personality. Cannot understand how he became famous unless it was the casting couch sindrum

He was, in my opinion rightly, voted the best British humorist of modern times in a TV poll last year (I can't remember if it was a poll of other comics or of the general public). I would agree that his performance on Room 101 did not show him at his best (by this time I think he was quite ill and probably inebriated into the bargain). But by this time he had easily done enough to justify his reputation as a humorist of genius.

The man was a comic genius - there's no doubt about it.

Wonderful, dry wit that could be so bitingly sharp - of course, to appreciate it properly, it helped if you were intelligent yourself.....

Richard Littlejohn, the right-wing d**khead. I'd like to continually slap him with alternating forehand and backhands, whilst repeating "It's political correctness gone mad!"

It's got to be Johnny Vaughn for me. You can almost hear him straining to be funny, but he never comes close.
