Can any one recommend a good Sunday Pub Lunch in the Peak District. Not too far from Castleton. A carvery would be nice but not essential.

A carvery would be nice but not essential. dishwasher 28-01-2006, 10:31 AM There's a great place in Hope. I think it's called the Old Hall. It's opposite the church on the main road, at the corner with the road to Edale. I have very good memories of this place. Ousetunes 28-01-2006, 10:36 AM The Rising Sun on the main road (between Hathersage and Castleton); the Bowling Green in Bradwell (if you can find it); the Cheshire Cheese on the Edale Road in Hope; Woodruffe Arms in Hope. I also had a huge Sunday lunch at the Poacher's Arms which is between Hope and Castleton some time ago. Also, although I don't think 'traditional', the fantastic stables bar at Monsal Head. Fabulous food, excellent real ales, open fires and stunning scenery. In Castleton itself, we always use the Castle on the corner (but we do so because we inevitably have our kids with us and they're kid-friendly and take a whole plethora of credit cards. [That's us]). Enjoy. Yellowrose 28-01-2006, 01:25 PM Castle at Castleton. Nags Head at Castleton, been a while though, used to be good but expensive. |
