How long does it take for the change to take effect? I really want to buy something, but the site won't deliver to an address different on the card.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I really want to buy something, but the site won't deliver to an address different on the card. Thanks. HotPhil 27-01-2006, 11:18 Depends on the card issuer. You should contact them and find out. I'd have thought an acceptable timescale was a week. Ann* 27-01-2006, 11:21 Surely, as a debit card is usually attached to a current account, or something similar, the change should be immediately the issuer is informed. Have you tried ringing them (I assume you wrote to them originally), to make sure they are in receipt of instructions? If it's an internet bank, then you should be able to change the address yourself, and the change should be either immediate, or in place the next day. xafier 27-01-2006, 11:27 I'm pretty sure its almost imediate... I changed mine when I moved to Manchester and it was working online for my new address a few days later when I first tried it... when they query it querys your bank, so that'll be checked against your latest data, which once they've got your details and clicked save should be your new address... HotPhil 27-01-2006, 11:58 It may well be immediate as long as there's some kind of verification in place. Quite what verification is needed will be down to the issuer. It will at minimum be subject to the usual telephone/internet banking verification processes. Otherwise the potential for fraudulent address changes of stolen cards is immense. Leigh 28-01-2006, 11:12 thanking you. now just gotta summon up the energy to get down to the bank......... Twiglet 28-01-2006, 11:38 thanking you. now just gotta summon up the energy to get down to the bank......... If you change it at the bank it is immediate (I can't stand phoning up because I have a complicated address and the Indian call centres always transcribe it completely wrong). Mine didn't request any form of ID but I think asked my date of birth and I gave them my card. |
