I know this will probably be sorted out in the course of time, but I'd find useful to have a work-around now....

Previously, when we tried to post a hyperlink, we would get the first box in which we could post the word or sentence, and then we would get the box to post the url. The first box isn't there at the moment.

Can someone tell me a quick way of doing this, coz it's bugging the life out of me at the moment?:huh:

On this latest version of vBulletin software I think it works now that you type the word that will be where the hyperlink will be in your reply, highlight it by left clicking and dragging, then click on the hyperlink symbol, type the URL in, finish and submit your reply and you should find the hyperlink will work then:)

you can use this code too:

{url=www.somewhereinteresting.com}Somewhere Interesting{/url}

but replace { } with square brackets.

When you opt to insert a link, little globe with a chain link, after you insert the url in the box and click OK the url is inserted twice in the code returned. The second instance will be highlighted so you just overtype with what you want to appear in your message.

I have just found something out about this new system, and I am a bit amazed.

When replying to a post on another thread, by accident I just typed the www. then the site address, and it was automatically transformed into a link, in the body of the post.

For example www. the register .com without the spaces, and it comes out on the post as www.theregister.com

Did the old software do this?

It certainly did as long as you left the "parse URLs" option checked.

The new method had me fooled a bit at first when I didn't get the second dialogue box up. I quite like the new way though.
