A part of the proposed West bars Riverside scheme (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=7138971&postcount=1), Castlemore Securities are proposing to build two 16 & 18 storey glass towers resembling glass shards!

You can view the proposals here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=7138404&postcount=1)

The scheme also includes proposals for a 20 storey boutique hotel (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpost.php?p=7139133&postcount=1)and exclusive apartments.

I hope that gets the thumbs up from the council. Looks amazing.

It all looks very impressive, but its difficult to tell from the images how these buildings fit in with / relate to the existing (and other proposed) buildings in the area.

And whats the building on the corner at the Alma Street / Corporation Street / Bridge Street junction? That doesn't seem to be mentioned?

The tower shown in this picture (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y257/Steelcityrise/16and18storeyWestbarstowers1.jpg) looks like it is subsiding (or are they aiming for a "Leaning Tower of Sheffield" kind of look).

Slightest gust of wind, and it'll fall over:D.

Sussed it - it's a big glass hotel. That'll spoil the view out of my window!

What exactly is a "boutique" hotel ?

It's usually a hotel with a very individual, designed and tasteful sensibility - as opposed to bog standard chain hotels where every room looks the same. I suspect that while a few years ago it genuinely meant something, it's fast becoming a term used by big hotel chains to make their establishments seem like something they're actually not.

This looks far too exciting. It'll never get the go ahead from the Council.

This scheme is actually being brought forward and backed by the council- they appointed a prefered partner for it. Also it has university involvement and they tend to be treated with great respect in cities because of their importance. I think it will go ahead in some form, just a shame that completion is 2014!!

I really hope this goes ahead- it would regenerate the lower part of town :D

i curious to see what effect the new ring road will have first. It's great that that part of town (which sees so much traffic) is being improved all the same.

Is that the same Scott F(raser) who went to Wickersley Comp by the way?

I can see my flat on one of them pictures :D Lucky I'm moving out, too much building/road works going on round there now.
