View Full Version : Valentines day... single for a change...
livestrong 24-01-2006, 21:58 okay... before i start i apologise for not posting in the "the ultimate singles thread" however this is a one time only posting just for valentines day and not to be repeated.
to some this may seem like an act of desperation but it is far from it believe me... more a bold and most probably foolish use of my somewhat strange new found self confidence. but hey we only live once so what the hell...
the long and short of its valentines days soon the first that i will have spent on my own for a very long time and i'm looking for suggestions as to what i could do instead? any offers of dates would be happily considered lol. no seriously what would you do if you were spending your first valentines not with someone in years, how would you adjust to the change in situation, what would you do instead?
just as a side note i am the happiest i have been in years right now...loving life...
susiepoosie 24-01-2006, 22:10 Awww bless, buy yourself a big bouquet of flowers (if that's not too girly for a guy) some chocs and chill out!! Better to be happy on your own than miserable with someone else
me too matey, first time in years and years - just think of the cash you're saving :D lets all go to the pub instead :hihi: :hihi:
Well if I were in your situation livestrong I think I would prehaps find a couple of good films that I really love,a nice bottle of wine and my favorite type of take away meal.. I may even indulge and have two main dishes..
cloudybay 25-01-2006, 08:21 Why not arrange a Valentine's Day meet for single Forummers? See who's up for it and then decide where. It may save lots of others spending their evening alone.

Ditto!!!! First time i've been single on valatines day for 5 years and although i was bothered about being single in the past (to some degree) it really does not bother me at all!!
or just spend the day like any other regular day... its only a holiday made up to make a little money from us between christmas and easter...
I'll be spending it like usual, get up, go to work, go home, cook myself some food, watch a movie or something, go to bed...
why bother doing something if your single? it's just going to make you feel worse... I've only spent one valentines day with someone in my life :?

sorry!
I shall too be spending this years valentines on my own for the first time in 15 years, if only I had someone to do something romantic for, oh well.
Guess I will have to settle for sitting in watching TV, as usual.

Why not just ignore it.......afterall its only a commercial rip-off anyway. What would you normally do on a Tuesday?
not looking forward to it either but it is just a day like any other where im still at the stage of staring daggers at couples who walk around together holding hands and been happy when I'm not. Maybe im just turning bitter in my old age
I spent the last few valentines days married but alone and lonely. I don't plan on doing that again, so I'm open to suggestion too.
Preferably something that doesn't involve too much wallowing, or getting bitter. I can do both of them perfectly well by myself.
Well I think I'll be with somebody for the very first time this Valentines day
Livestrong, I think you should treat it as a normal day, like what has been said before, you won't be the only person alone! Maybe spend it with friends!
The year before last, I'd just broken up with my boyfriend and I was feeling all alone :( but one of my very lovely friends bought me a card and a 'I Love You' necklace, how sweet is he?!!
It just shows that you don't have to be with a boyfriend or girlfriend to have a nice time on Valentines day!
Do you want me to send you a bunch of roses? hehe, it'll make u feel better!
xxxx
sophiec1979 25-01-2006, 11:44 lol! last year was the first time ive been with someone on valentines day since i was at primary school!!!!!!
i went to birmingham to see him and he said he had to pop out and when he came back, he'd brought his mate home with him- plus the 2 cards that his mate wanted me to write out for his long term girl friend and his bit on the side!!!!!!! apparently, my writing would be neater than his which is why he asked me to do it.
oddly (not that odd given the circumstances), my card wasnt written by my fella either- i think the girl in the shop may have a had a hand in that one. and he got me the same card that his mate had got for his bit of stuff- how good did i feel?
im glad im on my own- would just be nice to go out for a few beers and meet some new people thats all.
