View Full Version : Playing Guitar and Singing!! Anyone out there?
I have looked on loads of the threads to do with playing guitar and singing but they never seem to go anywhere. I am 45, male, a very average guitarist (general chords and picking) with two lovely guitars (6 & 12) and enjoy singing and playing anything easy from Jim Reeves to Katie Melua, the Eagles, Clapton, Denver, Seekers etc.
Isn't there anybody out there, male or female, who feels the same and wants to get together and play and sing either singularly or duetting without the pressure of being good or bad?
Let me know what you think.
:o Can't believe that. Not one person out there? Even learners are welcome and we could turn it into a lesson FOR FREE:)
I have not played for a few years but keep meaning to get back to it. I only have an electric at the moment though, although I do like things like Katie Melua and the Seekers. I live in Beighton as well.
I have a guitar but absolutely no idea how to play- has anyone got a spare book on how to play then after a while ill come and jam with you :D
Excellent, lets arange a get together and have a go at doing some playing. ScottF, you are more than welcome to come along and bring your guitar. You'll find that playing with others is a far faster way of learning (I did). PM me you guys and we'll arange something.
Crayfish 26-01-2006, 23:30 Aw, this sounds fun.
I can play guitar but I can't sing, am I allowed to join in and learn the singing bit?
Of course, the more the merrier. If everyone PM's me, we can organise a meet up.
Come on you peeps. There must be more than 2 people playing and singing in isolation for fear of being laughed at or ridiculed? I'm not that good myself but I am up for a laugh and have even sung at folk clubs in the past.
Code13, I have PM'd you, did you pick it up? Crayfish, we are going to try and get together next week all being well if you want to join us?
Raptornet 23-03-2006, 00:06 Hi there
I tried picking up guitar last year but due to moving out and stuff i wasn't able to follow it on.
I'd certainly be interested in learning something from people who can actually strum a cord or two.
Don_Kiddick 24-03-2006, 01:23 I work shifts but it's a fairly rigid 3 week rota.
Used to play and was in a couple of *cough* bands - not picked it up for ages though.
Me little lads just starting to learn so I'm re-tracing old ground by showing him a few chords n stuff.
I'd be interested in the odd little jam sesh but unable to commit to regular events due to work/ transport restrictions.
Pm me if you can use me.
DK
p.s - have 6 string folk & 6 string electric (with effects pedals  )
Hi there
I was beginning to think I was the only one who wanted to play. If you want to PM me and I will give you my number so we can get something going.
I have just started taking classical lessons and reading tab as well as playing chords so any other knowledge you guys bring with you will be good.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi there DK and Raptor neck. I can't PM at the moment. Can you reply to this if you are still interested?
Cheers.
PhilMurray 26-03-2006, 20:03 can do strummer n cash?
redhotjo 26-03-2006, 20:37 hiya
id be interested in this depending on times etc as a single parent times can be tricky. Id be more interested in vocals than guitar as im soooo rusty its untrue!
ibetyoulook 27-03-2006, 14:19 This sounds good,
Ive been tinkering with the guitar for a couple of years and it would be good to compare skills and stuff.
Pm me if anything gets organised
cheers
Redhotjo, I can't PM you as you have exceeded your inbox allowance. Can you delete some messages please?
Cheers
redhotjo 02-04-2006, 11:39 Tis done!!!
i'd be interested as well, but i also have child care issues, again possibly more interested in vocals, as i've not picked up my guitar for about 5 years!! if you could let me know times, and if there's still space for another! then please let me know, and i'll see if i can work around whatever you have arranged
Hi there,
There is always room for one more. No problem with the singing but bring your guitar too as it's just like riding a bike (so I'm told). Good to have you along :) . I will PM you with the details as soon as.
Cheers.
sounds good to me
Hi everyone
How's about trying to meet up for an inaugaral get-together this Saturday at mine (or someone else's) say around 6pm? For those with children, who can't get a sitter it's no problem if they want to bring them along. We can meet for an hour or so to thrash out who is wanting to do what and try and organise an evening or afternoon (weekend) to try having a go. If not, what about one night this week?
Let me know and I will PM you the address and contact number.
Cheers.
Is anyone else up for this tonight?
Hi everyone:)
April looks to be a bad month for most people  so lets try and get together the first weekend after the May bank holiday. PM me if you are interested.
Cheers:thumbsup:
