I am a third year student and with me finishing in May, me and a couple of friends are wanting to stay in Sheffield. We are wanting to get a flat from June in Sheffield (preferably around centre) and are just wondering if the contracts run from June/July as with student houses or at the time that they are advertised. What is the average price range for rented flats in Sheffield? Thanks.

There are contracts aimed at students which run from the summer, but also private renters rent at other times too. Try the housing associations, now might be a good time to get on their lists.

Thanks. What prices on average do people pay per week / month?

http://www.artfullodger.co.uk/content.php this site has many of the apartment blocks for rent on.

West One you're looking at £325/month per bedroom. When I looked this was pretty standard, around £325-£400 per room in most apartment blocks. One bedroom flats go for £450-£550/month.

If you are looking for an area just outside of the city centre which is quite pleasant to live in, Broomhill/Fulwood/Crookes are all great areas and the prices are around £400 pcm for a one bed flat. If you were sharing it would be more like £250 dependent upon how many and the size of flat. From what I can gather the flats in town are pretty expensive, certainly Riverside Exchange and West One, upwards of £500-600. Hope this helps.
