went to The Odeon last night to see 'Memoirs of a Geisha', beautiful film somewhat ruined by the cinema. not been for a good few years and had forgotten what a poor cinema it is. are all the screens that small? it was dirty and the seats unbelievably uncomfy, I felt bad for the folk behind me as I wriggled constantly for the last half hour :mad:
If the gateway to Sheffield is going to continue its revamp and attempt at a grand entrance that b*gger along with The Roxy needs to be pulled down sharpish IMO :o

I haven't been to the Odeon for ages, the vile smell of **** you have to suffer to get through the door puts me off!
I think I'd rather wait for the DVD than visit what feels, looks and smells like a public latrine! :gag:

Last time we went it was more of a youth club then cinema, gangs of cocky teens hanging around both outside and inside, could do with a refurb and the staff didn't exactly look over joyed to be there. The only reason we went there rather than UGC/Cineworld was that we wanted to go for a drink after in town.

I normally go to the pictures once every week or two, often with free tickets, so i don't get a choice of cinema. And i must admit that i don't look forward to going to the Odeon, it seems really dirty and a bit seedy, like they should be showing porn there. Meadowhall is the worst for quaity and service though, the sound went of the other day (i did complain and get more free tickets), and today i could hear the bass from the film next door coming through the wall. Valley centertainment (cineworld) is by far the best comfortable seats, clean and tidy and the staff are quite pleasant.
They are all too expensive in my opinion.

We used to do Parkour/Freerunning (Check this thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=85711).) Around the Odeon and Roxy area and I totally agree. The area smells constantly and the buildings are fugly!
I have been told by the site manager of the area that it is ALL going to be renovated over the coming years though, hopelfully the inside of the Odeon will fowllow suite and upgrade their screens, heck I would go for less screens if it meant bigger ones!
