I can't find the article now but the concept seems ludicrously pretentious and soulless. Martyn Ware is "curating" it

Don't we have any indigenous, psychopathic, dead dictators who could do the job?

Typical really, those imigrants get all the best jobs.:)

As for DADA, a ghastly name, pretentious and meaningless.

There may be a few vacancies at Thornbridge brewery itself soon if any of the Trippets staff fancy that! http://thornbridge.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/time-to-say-ciaogoodbye/

I'm just wondering if Thornbridge are going to try and flog their key-keg beers more heavily at DADA and make it more like Brewdog bars. I do agree though that it's a truly appalling name.

Indeed sibon, the place could have been called "The Tyndall" or "Mosley's", in fact either would have been preferable to the eventual outcome.

Curating? How do you curate a bar?

If 'Sir' Tommy Robinson carries out his treatened hunger strike he could be a late entrant to the field. :D

I agree it's a daft name. Can you imagine speaking to someone on the phone and arranging to meet at DADA bar?

As for the curator, maybe he's transferring from The Museum? (boom boom)

Should be called either the "DEE-DAR" bar or maybe the "Wow! look how many people Emma Harrison has got jobs for, she really was worth all that money that the government paid her" bar.

I actually met her last week in a meeting and asked her several questions she didn't like.

I think Trippets should be renamed 'Thanks for lining my pockets'

I'm really sad to see Stefano leave, he's been instrumental in producing many of the beers from my favourite brewery, including the mighty fine Jaipur.

It will be interesting to see if Thornbridge continue to produce new top class beers after he's left.

Good to see Thronbridge getting a bar of their own in the city centre, but as others have stated, the name is terrible.

I hope they make a success of this and open a few more in the centre.....The more successful craft brewery bars we have, the better says I.....Hopefully Brewdog will open one next year as promised.

It wasn't ta.

The problem with this city is that its so busy trying to copy, impersonate or synthetically make a cultur it doesn't bother looking at the culture it already has.

Ah Brewdog. Great (for the most part) beer, awful marketing.

As much as I like Thornbridge beer, Jaipur is one which has always been lost on me. You can taste the alcoholic strength too much for my liking - and a couple of pints seem to induce the same effect as prunes... :gag:

Wednesday night is spotlight here at Trippets… but not for long. The final swan song of spotlight is upon us tonight! As you could expect we are planning to go out with a bang and a strum from some of our favourites.

Chris Firminger will be leading off in the evening as usual playing some fantastic acoustic guitar. We will also be joined by Jules from a local favourite band: Carnival. As well as Jules we also have James Casey who will be belting out some well-known tunes. As it is our last night here at Trippets, there are some dangerous rumours that we will be featuring some VERY special guests.

If you don’t want to miss out please pop down tonight to support Spotlight for the very last time here in Trippets.
