Does anyone know any thing about The Millhouses Allotment Society? The Sec. is a lady called Linda Powell.

I've been trying for weeks to find information about them including contacting the council, avidly searching through forum archives and loitering around the allotments at various times in the day.

The allotments are freehold and are located in Hutcliffe woods opp. sainsburys. I know they must be still active 'cause some have chickens and geese in them.

Would be grateful for any information however tenuous.

Thanks, bye.

To get my allotment I contacted the Parks and Recreation Department of the council. They were really helpful in getting me started as well as giving me the contact details of the local allotment societies. Sorry I don't have the contact details with me, but I'm sure if you go through the councils web pages you can get them.

Thankyou.

I am trying the council at present but so far have drawn a blank. Its because the allotments at hutcliffe woods are freehold rather than leasehold.

I'm beginning to think its a secret society rather than an allotment society. I wonder what dastardly deeds of world domination alllotment owners could be getting up to, that they need to be so elusive?

but thanks for the reply, all info welcome. I suppose i shall have to go back to my loitering - people are going to start getting suspicious!!!

apparently i've got to look out for a 6' welsh man with a dog - who can give me info - its a bit like a spy novel. Although you never see them hanging round allotments in James Bond.

think i might be loosing it a bit - better go - bye.

Did you ever manage to find a contact or info on the Millhouses Allotment Society?
There is a long long wait for the council sites and so we were wondering about trying to get in touch as there seems to be lots of room - though I'm not sure about the work to get them back in shape!!.

There seems to be some frustration over these allotments and getting one. The situation is that these allotments are all privately owned by individuals and although there are indeed a number of them unused, the owners do not want them renting out. There is nothing we can do about this. We also have a waiting list for plots if they become available, but this is an unlikely prospect. Hopefully this will give enquirers the information they need.
