There was a thread about this a while ago, I'm sure. Try a search?

The oldest football ground in the world belongs to Hallam FC- also in Sheffield, birthplace of football:clap:

What club is this?

I'm guessing it's Sheffield FC - oldest club in the world. Hallam FC second oldest club in the world, with the oldest ground. I think...

Sheffield is reknowned for fine football, and football history.

We have the oldest CLUB in the land.. Sheffield FC,

We have the oldest GROUND - Hallam FC

We were the place where the FA was born... the Grand Hotel (IIRC) here in this fine city of ours.

And, of course, the finest two teams in the land...

Sheffield United FC, and, erm... Sheffield United reserves! ;) (only teasing... lol)

in dronfield.

Don't sheffield FC have a conection with Real Madrid now (i think Sheffield won an award from UEFA or something and Real Madrid are the only other club have earnt it or something).

By the way, not that I am endorsing this claim but if you are doing a research project or something it might be worth you knowing that Cambridge University's soccer club claim to have been founded earlier than Sheffield FC.

FIFA have investigated this and another claim from turkey and found that sheffield FC is still the oldest i believe :D :D

It appears that Cambrisge University is probably the 3rd oldest club, but it was the place where the first written rules of the game were laid down. I think...

Who cares? Sheffield def. the oldest club & oldest ground!

Sheffield F.C. is the oldest club in the world under the rules similar to today. In the old days public schools played a game similar to football called hacking, but at a meeting it was decided to adopt the SHEFFIELD rules which is the basis of todays rules. Sheffield club was situated in highfield, bottom of Sharrow lane area. It's a disgrace that the Sheffield City council do very little to help this club, most of the help comes from Sheffield United.

Sheffield club should have a ground within the area where they were first formed, not out in Dronfield, No wonder Sheffield is hardly known outside of Yorkshire the council are a load of dunderheads.

I went to that match too, Mtheo! it was chok-a block that day.

My eldest nephew was being a total so-and-so that day.(as usual!) So he was grounded from going with us to that game.

We went back, and "tormented" him, with the fib that beckham, and giggs had flown in by helicopter from the Far East to play, ooh that made him so green.
