Haven't received any post for 3 days straight now and usually have to wade through copious amounts of trash mail before finding my increasing pile of bills.
Was wondering if anyone else has had any problems in Hackenthorpe (Moss Way end of Birley Spa Lane) these past few days or if they have been receiving post as normal and its just a freak occourence.
If there was a problem, how could I check with Royal Mail?
Why don't you check with your nearest neighbours?
Say about four houses in both directions.
If they're not receiving any either, I'd suspect the postie might be missing your road out as it's 'an inconvenience'.
If they ARE getting their mail, then you personally might be going through a 'junk mail drought'. Doubt if he'd miss out just one house but drop off at the ones either side.
We sometimes get mail for the same number house on a parallel road, and vice versa!! Doesn't seem to happen the our neighbours though :suspect:
I It is possible but it's worth checking anyway.

Hi I live in the Cotleigh area and we have been getting the post okay if you call after 2.00 delivery okay. Its a good job im not a doley as the post office shuts early Thursdays
We used to often get mail addressed for houses at least 3 streets away :loopy:
It seems our posties just see S6 6 and deliver to any old place..
Luckily this one time I was on my way to the bus stop on Marchwood Road for the bus, and the address on the envelope was only on Anvil Close which was on my way to the bus, so I called and dropped it off at the house.
The lady was most appreciative as it was a letter her husband had been waiting for.
So at least the postie's laziness allowed me to do my good deed for teh day :D
Also, Jooelz says she sent me an invite to her wedding do next month, the invite was sent last Tuesday and I still haven't got it yet, which is shocking even by RM standards :loopy:

Posties deliver around 1000 letters a day, 5 days a week. That's around 250,000 letters a year. It's got nothing to do with laziness, i'd like to see you or anyone else deliver all 250,000 without making a mistake while under pressure every morning to sort as fast as possible. It's easy to put the odd letter in the wrong road and just not notice once in a while.
I get loads of mail with the wrong address, no house number, postcode, street, you name it we get it. The vast majority we track it down and deliver it, dont know why we bother as we get no thanks.
The fact is we have the best postal service in the world, people love complaining but you never hear when things are fine, which is 99% of the time.
