I remember making my own kites out of newspaper, flour paste and thin canes. Some managed to fly, others never got airborne.

Marbles (hole digging to make a "Poggie") and street cricket...

What games did you used to play?

We used to play with frogs.

De-lav-vee-oooo! = Mad game where two groups had capture members of either team (cue : lots of shouting, arguing, fighting, hissy fits, tears of joy and sorrow) the game seemed to go on for days, particularly in the school holidays.

Pile-on = basically loads of kids just jumped on top of each other.

Thunderball = Throwing a tennis ball at high speed to your next team member, if they dropped the ball, it was game over for them.
