How do I go about renting a house these days? Not rented for years, I'm currently living in my house which I've bought.. but I'm wanting to sell & rent somewhere else.. The renting would be ASAP & the selling i would worry about later, if thats possible... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! :D

If you have got your name down on the housing list and have had it on there for a long time then what you need to do is bid on the Sheffield property shop website, if you haven't got your name down then your going to find it hard to find somewhere as the bidding process is still the same but houses are like 10 waiting time and over.
Pop into your local housing office and they will give you a form to put your name down if you haven't done so already. Also the council might not allow you to rent as you own your own home (Happened to someone I know)

For private rentals, first find your house.

The landlord or agent should then steer you through the rest of the process. We had a burst pipe last year and had to move into a rented house for a few months while ours was dried out and fixed up. The business of finding a place and moving in was pretty simple.

Presumably you mean privately as you own a home. So you just need to go round all the letting agents, when you find something you like, they will arrange for you to view. If you want it you'll usually have to provide references, proof of earnings, go through a credit check etc, sign on the spotted line, pay up your first month's rent plus the deposit and you're done. It's not a difficult process at all and a doddle compared to buying a house so I'm sure you'll be fine! The last time I rented a flat I was in the process of moving from another city to here and even being based elsewhere and not yet started my new job it wasn't *too* stressful!

Sheffield homes run a responsible landlord scheme, a list of landlords involved and more info on website:
