When I try to use a quote from a post, i highlight the bit i want, then click "quote", but it always seems to copy the whole post. How do you take just a line or two?
Thanks

I don't know if this is the correct way but it works for me,

click on quote and then delete the bits of the quote that you don't want to use.

Don't forget to leave the brackets in though

2wentypence.

To copy a quote from a post,

1)click the "quote" button on the bottom of the post you want to copy
This opens a new box on the screen, and the quote, in full will appear in the box, in script form.

2)Write your response to the quote underneath.

If you want to select a single part of the quote and remove the parts you don't want to include in the whole of the copied quote, place your cursor at the end of the part you want to remove, and carefully use the back space to remove the words you don't want to appear in the quote.

BEWARE..Do not remove anything that appears like commas, brackets which appear before the quote starts, and after the quote. Otherwise it will not work properly.

At the bottom of this same screen, if you wish to see what your "Modified Quote and message looks like, CLICK PREVIEW REPLY

At the top of the page you will see the Post you are about to send, and if necessary correct any spelling in the body of your typed message underneath.

Then just click SUBMIT REPLY as usual and you have posted it in the Forum
Hope this helps.

The easiest way is to do this:

1) copy the quote you want and paste it into youre reply.

so it appears like this.

When I try to use a quote from a post, i highlight the bit i want, then click "quote", but it always seems to copy the whole post. How do you take just a line or two?
Thanks

2) then at the start of the quote add [ quote ] this will go before the word "When", and at the end of the quote put this [/ quote ] and it will look like this. (a note - make sure there is no spaces in the quote, I had to put a space in or it would turn into a quote.

When I try to use a quote from a post, i highlight the bit i want, then click "quote", but it always seems to copy the whole post. How do you take just a line or two?
Thanks

Saves messing around with the quote button.

And in all the time I have been on the Forum, I haven't worked out how to put multiple quotes in one reply!

you copy and paste as decribed already and then put

[ quote ] words go here [ /quote ]

and then you write a bit more

[ quote ] more words here [/ quote ]

and you've got a second quote.

if you want to make it look like the automatic one you add

[ quote ][ i ] Originally posted by [ /i ]
[ b ] words go here [ /b ]
[ /quote ]

except without the spaces I used here [^word^]
