I could do with knowing what rules and regs I will need to abide by when I start supplying security guards to various premises (not my premises) around the UK. I know of something called 'public liability insurance' which I dont know if I will have to look into or not, but what else is there to look at?

Thanks, W

Are there any self employed ppl on here who supply personnel ie cleaners etc, not only guards?

Thanks Beanieuk. Yes I visited the SIA website a while ago which has made things a lot clearer, great suggestion though, thanks!

I'll have a look around the net and see what security forums I can come up with

You need a 10 yr checkable work history, yes thats every job you ever did..including the ones you walked out on, left after 20 mins, hit the boss (if you ever did) the whole lot & they do check

You'll need, with effect from next month, an SIA licence yourself in order to supply security (doors, guards, whatever) and also each person you supply will need an SIA licence, again regardless of the type of security they do. Its an offence if you supply unlicensed staff after March this year, or if you're not licensed to do so yourself

But will everyone be trained...as a trainer I would say no so what are the SIA going to do? they have not even managed to decide on an approved contractor scheme yet!
