Hey, a few months ago there was a piano on sharrow vale road with a sign on it inviting people to play it between certain respectable hours. I don't live in Sheffield at the moment but has anyone else seen this piano or even played on it? i came across it at 3am and was obviously unable to use it.

Yeah the street piano is quite well known. It was originally stolen, but after an article in the local press they received another donated piano which has now been bolted to the ground. After the neighbours complaining about it being played at silly times in the morning it is now locked after 9pm.

Only in Sheffield would you find such a cool thing. :)

I live there and have never seen it!!!! Where is it??? I didn't live next door to a piano teacher for 18 years for nothing.....

Walked down Sharrowvale Road on Monday afternoon at 13.25 and the lid was locked. I thought it was someone chucking it out so had intended to post on here to say that there's a piano going if anyone wanted it. From previous posts, it appears that I've got it wrong :D

Is someone able to post a pic of it? Im quite intruiged!

Noticed yesterday the tarpaulin had come off, not good at this time of the year :nono:

I went round this morning at 11.30 am to try it out but it was locked. What time does it open up?
I'll see if I can find a better cover than the bit of plastic over it at the moment.

It's a tortoiseshell wood effect upright and when I went down Sharrowvale Road it didnt even have a plastic cover on it. I lifted up the lid and as it had been raining all the water dripped in to the insides so it would be really nice if you could find a decent cover for it.

Where on Sharrowvale Road? It's a long road so some indication would be helpful.

Its still there i saw it yesterday while i was at the Jaguar garage it made me chukkle :D

It's there on the other side of the road from the Jaguar garage and is covered up with a large piece of blue plastic sheeting. The first one that got nicked had a sign on it saying 'community piano'.
However imagine my surprise when I saw another one just off Sharrowvale which I bet most people don't know about.

Wow, that's amazing :) The city would be a nicer place to live with a few of those around. Some community guitars with a wall of amps would be nice too...
