View Full Version : Broadband on aol,is it a problem maxwell 17-01-2006, 19:22 Hi, my daughter is using aol on a free trail,i have since read on other forums that aol have not got a good name ,could someone clarify please. Rich 17-01-2006, 19:32 AOL are the WORST ISP ever! Anyone who's ever been on them (myself included) have seen untold proof of this... :gag: Seriously, their software doesn't work, their connections suck balls, and their technical "support" staff are retarded morons who could no more fix your computer problems than teach you to fly. wendygs 17-01-2006, 20:34 Strongly recommend a search on SF which speaks for itself :D sparklygem 17-01-2006, 20:39 im with aol, and not impressed, theyve messed up my billing for the past 4 months, i wouldnt recommend them pressy 17-01-2006, 21:09 I must be lucky ... aint had any probs ...... yet !!! melthebell 17-01-2006, 21:54 aol are supposed to be bad i dont like isps where their software takes over your computer either, nearly as bad as spyware their own browser their own messenger their own this their own that and you cant remove it all easily personally i try and stay clear of the big boys, all too big for their britches id never do aol, bt unuspromulti 18-01-2006, 21:42 I was on aol for 3-4 years and yeh the software can be a pain in the are, especially when trying to remove it but connection wise and customer service was always excellent, much better than Bulldog who ive been with for 18 months. melthebell 18-01-2006, 21:51 yeah but at least bulldog can get better aol on the other hand can only get worse :P kall_sheff 18-01-2006, 22:03 AOL " ALWAYS OFF LINE" . would never recommend . Telewest:thumbsup: are the best ISP in the country in my opinion. commuter 19-01-2006, 11:11 been with aol for about 4 years, on aol bb for the last 3. Never had a problem, connectivity never a problem. I have to admit so far they have not helped connect my pocket pc to the internet but I will speak to them again at the weekend after I've rebuilt my desktop (nothing to do with aol ....all to do with ms) 40summat 19-01-2006, 11:31 you can't get AOL broadband for Macs, i don't know why. Cue another Mac attack, *heads for the bunker* Regular_John 19-01-2006, 11:54 I was with AOL for a few years, both dial-up and broadband. Their software is hell, it never closes when you want it to. I was occasionally dropped from my connection, but not too often. Their techical support are useless, absoloutley pointless. But their level 2 technical help are very helpful, one guy helped me set up my wireless router [i have made several calls to AOL about my router and they always say that they don't support my router, hence no help]. Maybe this guy felt charitable? When I got my router, I didn't have to use their software which made it loads better. For a basic boradband service, they are alright, you get the security software and everything for free [dunno if it's any good]. But I'd probably try and find some other company. I've just moved to Pipex, can't fault them.....yet! Savannah2 19-01-2006, 20:27 Their software is hell You don't have to use their software.....connect using a router  To be honest my time on AOL was hit and miss, some good days, some bad ones. Unless you are migrating to AOL there is also the dreaded 12 min contract :( bladesufc1 19-01-2006, 20:31 telewest bradband BYWW great!! free tech support upgrading in 1 month to 10meg max speed different speeds min 1 meg SaveUK 19-01-2006, 20:36 Originally posted by Savannah2 You don't have to use their software.....connect using a router  To be honest my time on AOL was hit and miss, some good days, some bad ones.
