A Salt and Battered... the one thing I actually miss from when I worked at EDS. Must make a point of going there again at some point.

Never been there but the name takes me back a bit - it's been going years hasn't it? Got to be one of the most appalling puns in the entire history of shops.

Ah, "A Salt n Battered" - another good reason to be drawn to Sheffield 2 ...along with the gallons of Magnet to be drunk in the pubs of London Road & Denby St etc, the Taj Mahal of South Yorkshire Football (according to Stuart Hall) that is Bramall Lane,and of course T'Blades!

There's a chippie in Hartlepool called "Just Codding", I kid you not.

My wife and I went in to "A Salt n Battered" a bout 20 years ago. As she is only 4’13’’ the shop assistant could only see the top of her head. She asked me what I wanted and then said “what about you little boy!” As you can imagine, my good lady wife was not amused, at first. The shop assistant went bright red with embarrassment and apologised. My wonderful wife then kicked me on the shins for laughing so much.
We then started to call it "Insult n Battered"

Glad to see that it is still open. I hope that the chips are still as nice.
