how long does it take to get from Sheffield city centre to Doncaster/Sheffield airport by car.
also are there any public transport services to the airport?
thank you
Probably about 40 minutes to drive at a guess - there will probably be someone on here who has done it and can advise you better.
By public transport get either the train or the X78 bus from Sheffield to Doncaster, then change onto the airport arrow shuttle bus from outside Doncaster station to the airport.

Public transport to the airport is a bit of an expensive joke.
The Donny - Lincoln train line runs next the runway - but they can't be bothered building a train station for the airport. Ridiculous.
And why NO direct bus from Sheffield city centre ? After all the airport's supposed name includes Sheffield. SYPTE gets enough money from our taxes, while First make a fortune.
Four times now I've tried to use the airport shuttle bus from the stop near Doncaster station.
(it's not actually at Doncaster station, that would be too useful)
Only once did it turn up as per the timetable, the other three times it'd had apparently vanished - I'd been there in good time, waited over half an hour then had to hire a cab from Donny station or I'd miss my flight.
The only time I've found the shuttle bus useful is coming back from the airport - there are accurate & updated bus "departure" boards inside the airport.
Top tip: buy a £3.99 South Yorkshire day tripper ticket - it includes your train fare from/to Sheffield and the otherwise expensive airport shuttle bus.
As for airport taxis - expect to pay at least £30 to/from central Sheffield.
Try this service www.1stclass-travel.co.uk , I've been happy with'em

Umm not really, ive used it nearly 5 times now to get to Robin Hood airport and its never cost me more than £6.
Take the train to Doncaster from Sheffield Railway Station (~something like £2-3). Then take the Airport Express round the corner at Doncaster Station - only costs around £3-3.50

I'm glad the "Airport Express" turned up for you each time - in my experience it's been most unreliable and I've usually had to resort to cabs or I'd miss my flight.
A single from Sheffield to Doncaster is £3.30 - which is okay. But the bus fare at the other end is expensive. (Daytripper is the cheapest fare)
Other airports have free bus-train shuttles, which are much more frequent.
What the airport needs is its own train station - with direct services to local towns. I hear the planners are starting to think about it - let's hope Robin Hood airport doesn't close before it gets built.
I took the wife to donny airport last week and it took 40 mins. Parkway, M1, M18 juction 3. Signposted from there. About 5 miles from motorway.
