Am currently involved with the carnival compiling the program for this years carnival program. Was wondering if anyone new when it started and any other info that you might have really.

when i was about 3 or 4 i was on one of the floats,i was dressed as a sunflower with all the other kids from birley nursery,this was about 1982/83 i cant remember,but i know it had been going for a while well before that!....if anyone else was dressed as a fetching sunflower let me know! lol ill never forget it..it was the day i came out in chicken pox! lol

Yeah it's been going on longer than I can remember.. I used to watch all the marching bands and stuff when I was a real little nipper and thats in the 60s. It's nothing like it used to be though. Its a shame but no one seems bothered anymore.

I remember watching the carnival in the early sixties, praobably around 1964.

i remember my friend dressing up as jive bunny to go to the carnival fancy dress lol sadly she didn't win, guess her grandads sweaty socks with a bit of cornflake box inside didn't make convincing ears! no idea when it started sorry.
