I have used Newgen in the past to sort my Toshiba Portege laptop, but they seem to have gone to the wall.

Problem is, they had access to a Tosh repairer near Sheff.

I think they had another shop, so pointers there would be a help. Alternatively, does anyone know where Kris Nogowczyk is, (their tecky) 'cos he may be able to help.

Any ideas please pass them on, or any Tosh lappy expert in the area, (still under Tosh guarantee).

Please?

Whats the problem with it? what's the serial number? I can check all warranty details if it helps and I am Toshiba certified.
You should just have to call Toshiba and they will advise where to take it if it does not have any on site warranty.

Try CBC Computers on Brown Street. I understand they are official Toshiba repair agents.

OK. Thanks, neeeeeeeeeek

It's a portege r100 serl no 83711246g and we were told it's under waranty 'til the end of this year.
The symptom is that it's beeping - regular, irritating beeps from just before the windoze fanfare, and that the keyboard's not working.
It's a lovely machine, light as a feather and stuff, but this is already the second keyboard....

Ho hum. I'll check out CBC, but if your a tosh repairer, neeeeeeeeeek, and will get paid by them, let me know.

Ta all for the help.

When I tried them several years ago, their Customer services Manager tried being just too cute with me and I didnt like the way they tried it on. Needless to say I havent been back there since. :D

Your best off ringing Toshiba, they will advise on the best local service cenre who can do the work and claim the warranty from them. It's coverered until 29th of September 2006. Cover does not include on-site repair. The R100 has no known issues with your symptoms, looks like your just unlucky.

Try calling the Toshiba warranty line about your laptop. The warranty repair service seems to be very efficient. Mine has just had a new screen fitted. I rang up on Thursday, the machine was collected on Friday and I received it back this morning. Toshiba arrange the collection and delivery and provide any packaging that's needed.
