I'm running windows xp,and when i click start/run then type in "winver" then click enter it tells me i'm using xp version 5.1

Does this mean i'm running windows explorer 5.1?

Tryed downloading version 6,it starts downloading then says a newer version is already installed,if so how to i put it into operation?
Having a few problems when using the net,ebay for example tells me to update my ie.

Sooooo how do i do it?

As far as I am aware I am running IE version 6 but ebay has been telling me the same today....:suspect:

I suspect it could be a prob with ebay now as no other sites I have visited today/tonight report browser probs.....just ebay!

I thought it was me.... :loopy:

Thats Windows version not IE version ....you will have IE6

Windows NT version 5.0 would be W2K and version NT version 5.1 is XP IE a minor upgrade on W2K....Vista will be NT version 6.0

Start Internet Explorer.

Click on Help (top menu).

Select About (probably last item in list).

this will give you the version you have installed and it will be 6 for certain

It is ie 6!!

an earlier version of internet explorer? thats why it was telling you you already had a more recent one?
ie you were trying to install 5 and already had 6 so it wouldnt let you

You will have been trying to download IE6 :thumbsup:
