the one who now plays Susan in neighbours was nice in Cell Block H. I think most of the neightbours cast were in it at some point. I can remember Harold and Lou made appearances. Most of the woman though were pretty nasty. The Freak anyone?

She did indeed play Reb Keane, also the woman who plays Susan Kennedy was also in cell block h, she played Julie Egbert

Oh yes, Jackie Woodbourne is lovely for her age... :love: She used to be even moreso when she had that lovely long hair and wore dresses more often, but she's aged a bit lately and has short hair now, don't get me wrong I still wouldn't say no though.

I didn't fancy any of the cast, but I always felt sorry for the one who seemed to have learning disbailities, "Doreen" I think the character's name was.
Collette Mann, who played her did a fantastic line in playing "bewilderment". lol.

I used to watch it religiously, back in the early eighties. It was so wooden, but so compelling ! lol lol lol

Is it me, or does it seem that there's only a dozen or so actors in Australia, and they get shuffled around from show to show? lol ;)

Just three examples of crossover...

Judy Nunn, played a judge in PCBH, she played Bobbie's birth mother in Home and away.

Ian Smith (Harold Bishop, in Neighbours) was also in PCBH, as was Anne whatsit, his screen-wife, Madge.

The woman who was Madge was Anne Charlstone, she also popped up briefly in the ill fated new version of Crossroads last year iirc.

Madge (Anne Charlstone) had also popped up in Prisoner Cell Block H as a woman police officer

I actually thought the storylines were really good lol

I think its important we all understand what its like in an Australian womens prison

Old Lizzie Birdsworth was funny. "Pig's Arse" was one of her favourate sayings and she used to brew illicit 'grog' in the jail. She spent over 20 years in prison for poisoning some sheep shearers but it turned out she was innocent all along.

I adored this show, it was TERRIBLE but addictive. I even went to see it at the Lyceum when it came to Sheffield. Maggie Kirkpatrick was in it (Joan Ferguson - the best baddy and the dream role of the show) and one of the Nolan sisters played the governor!

My favourite (fanciable?) characters had to be:

Chrissy - utter tart and slapper, covered in spots and with the shortest skirts in the show.

Jude - big soft lesbian but looked after everyone

Lexi - temper tantrum kid

Bea - felt like a big sis by the end of the series

Meg - dull as ditchwater but oh so reasonable.

Lizzie - especially when drunk on some hooky home brew

Oh and there was that really, really ugly woman who looked like she'd been hit in the face with a spade. Nola? Argued and fought with everyone. Sounded really thick and was. God, where did they find her?

I'll stop there. Could go on and on. Won't.

Was she the one called lurch ?

Come to think of it most of the woman on cell block H looked like they'd been hit in the face with spade, with a few exceptions of the younger woman.

I think that character was Noelene, or Naawlaayne as the other characters pronounced it.

Cant say i fancied any of the cast... Fletcher was prob the best looking if i can remember back that far... and he wasnt exactly great looking... :gag: lol

My fave character was Mouse... who i think got killed whilst trying to escape down a tunnel! :( bless...
