My E drive needs fixing - can anyone recommend reliable/friendly (towards non-technos) computer shop or repairer, Hillsborough area if possible.

Which one is E: ? A second hard drive or a CD / DVD drive?

If you need a replacement drive I can pick one up from Microdirect in Manchester tomorrow morning before I come over to Sheffield. It should only be a five minute job to replace.

Thanks alchresearch, its a DVD drive - but I haven't yet decided whether to keep existing drives -

- or change for better.
Would anything be gained by swapping? Don't know as yet.

Is it broken? If so purchase another one. In my opinion it isn't worth paying someone to fit it as it is just like giant lego.

Open the PC Case two connections into back of the drive, unplug. Unscrew drive take out and fitting is the reversal of that

The LiteOn DVD writer is pretty decent. If it's just the DVD ROM drive that's playing up, just replace that. I've found Toshiba ones to be very reliable in the past.
