Help! I'm looking for a mains travel adaptor for use in Sri Lanka. I've tried Maplin, Currys and Coles in town and none can help.

Apparently, its type D, which has 3 round pins (see here (http://users.pandora.be/worldstandards/electricity.htm)). Apparently, its the same ones that we used to have in the UK. The generic worldwide adaptors only have 2 round pins or 2 flat pins.

My mummy used to tell me not to play around pushing things into plug sockets so I'm naturally worried about "just trying" one.

Anyone any ideas where I can get one before Wednesday?

Otherwise I'll just have to risk it and see if I can get one at the airport, either here or there.

Ta!

Sounds like the plugs they use in South Africa... you should be able to pick one up from the airport :)

[edit]

according to your link they're similar, but not the same... but i still rekon if you know exactly what plug type it is you'll be able to get one from the airport somewhere...

never realised there were so many different plug types... thats crazy... we really could do with having a standard for these things lol

yeah, i realised after i looked at the link and edited my reply... still think you'll be able to grab one at the airport though... they usually have a shop that sells lots of different ones... if all else fails you might be able to grab one from the airport you land in :)

is it a fully wired charger? or is it one of those that a "radio" cable? ie the type you have for PS2 and stuff plug -> 2 pin socket thing... cus if its that you can probably pickup those there too :)

my charger for my new camera's battery has one of those sockets which is good

good idea, but unfortunately its fully wired i think.

...actually, maybe it isnt. it may be the 'radio' type. but i dunno if the missus-to-be wants to take hair straighteners and that kinda crap too.
